i FINALLY finished the death note pilot and i actually don't have much things to say about it. it's an extremely interesting version of death note, with the death eraser and just how different the characters in the pilot are from the characters that made it to the final cut. one thing i will say,,, taro kagami is such an interesting protagonist to me. i find children or children-adjecant to be very compelling protagonists and taro is like 13 so. it's such a unique perspective, especially with taro here. he is bright, animated, and it's so so different from light. he acts pretty much like how a 13-14 year old would act. pure horror at the concept of killing people, a desire to really fix everything, and a certain kind of bravery since he is literally willing to die for a minute to prove that the death note is real.
even miura acts like how a child his age should. he reacts with fear, he makes rash and terrible decisions because he is scared. he has this book that can kill people, he thought he killed five of his classmates and killed so many more people because he was scared that he was going to get caught. and like. miura's utter guilt. he was willing to kill himself over the fact that used the death note and killed people.
