Oh yes, Luxu knew exactly the feeling she meant. Albeit rare, even the Archedemon of All Corporeal Desires could experience the intensity of what humans might refer to as the passionate emotional procession of “falling in love.” Not just a notion of lust, but as something deeper and far more profound---an actual connection to another sentient being. Granted, he could count those moments on a single hand, even amidst the numerous eons of his sinful existence---but each one of those at-the-time brilliant and beautiful moments had only ended in his own crippling despair.

A shame he was incapable of learning the first time around to put a leash on such devotion.

It was odd to think about, leaning forward on the railing and watching Twilight Town’s perpetual sunset, with the man who had basically forever altered his face---now positioned at his side. In the wake of it all---now that the dust had settled---it was likely that they figured Xigbar had found forgiveness or peace in his heart of hearts. That they were now companions---allies.

Which couldn’t be any more incorrect.

No matter the case, however, he at least had to pretend to get along with those who were to be temporarily considered his protagonistic peers. And such an intensely philosophical proposal gave Xigbar a reason to pause, for he hadn’t expected such a thoughtful assertion from his former-though-could-be-again enemy.

Perhaps the young Keybearer had changed in some way, after all that had come to pass---after all, so many of them had.

Xigbar did not have that luxury.

“...Were any of us, though?”

And, perhaps more dreadful to consider, would any of them be...?

Oftentimes, Luxu did not question how he came to be present in such strange regions during his aimless drifting. How he had ended up here, in this opulent, Draculaic castle on the border of a cult-ruled, rustic village on the eastern side of Europe. And how, within the confines of this decadent abode, he’d wound up reclined on the blood-spattered bedspread of one Cassandra Dimitrescu (or, as he much preferred to acknowledge her, Sweet Baby Cassie Dee), whose dramatic monologue he had been drawn into unwittingly, but certainly not unwillingly.

“Well, I mean...” and here, he paused, shining one of the most crisp apples he’d ever seen (despite how much gore there was on anything and everything edible in this castle) upon the front of his tattered scarf---a huff of a breath upon it, then one last swipe before jagged teeth closed around skin and flesh, down to the very core, picking three seeds into his maw as he did so. Chewing---twisting his expression in thought, then, “I mean, like, I dunno... maybe if you wipe your chin off---that’d be a start.”

“To see something is an incredible gift, and I’d have to agree, My Lady.” Ascar nodded and continued to gaze out at the snow-covered fields surrounding the Keep. “It’s strange, we can see in our own minds, sometimes the images we conjure there are so incredibly vivid we may as well have seen them in truth.” He knew exactly what it was to see the truth and have never left his home... 

“Yet, it never seems to compare to the feeling of truly being somewhere. These white fields seem almost too beautiful to exist in out world, yet... there they are, visible for our pleasure. It makes me wonder what other glorious slights exist in this world.” he turned to her and smiled, “I truly hope I get to see more before the Gods call for me.”

These are words that mean more than they plainly pronounce. Something starker, sharper than the simple saying. From others they are empty. From him, eternal edict. It is a careless Keeper that does not know the importance of such an admission. But they have never conversed like the commons do and position restricts the affluence of unacceptable affection between extreme stations. Therefore, it is with still fingers and active eyes she replies, “Then serve me.”
