Howwwwww do you shorten a book?
I have cut three entire chapters completely from the book, agonizing over every little word I lost.
And it's still 120,000 words.
That's auto-reject territory for publishers, they don't want anything in YA from an unpublished author that's over 90,000. How on earth do I cut another 30,000 words out? The book already feels like it's running at breakneck speeds, am I supposed to make it move even faster? Guhhh, I wish I could just query this as a Big-Ass Book™
