So far Auradon had been amazing, nearly everything she could ever have hoped it to be. People were friendly, for the most part, food didn’t taste like shit, and best of all… Her father was a sea away on an inescapable island. 

Lately she had noticed that many of the boys, and some of the girls too, were giving her an awful lot of attention. Which was something she had no idea how to deal with. After so long of staying out of people’s way and keeping to herself, the concept of people finding her attractive was an entirely foreign concept. She found it easy to politely tell people to go away, or if they needed more encouragement a good ‘Fuck off’ was usually sufficient. This fucker just was not taking the hint. The more she scooted away the more he encroached on her space. If she hadn’t sworn to not be violent especially with her newfound strength, this asshole would be getting a knee to the crotch.

Thankfully Valerian was approaching and the opportunity to at least scare the prick off. What she wasn’t expecting was the sudden kiss from her friend. 

“How was my…?“ She blinked. “Valerian you can’t just kiss me like that and then act like it was nothin’!“

The Enchantress was also seen as a legend. A cautionary tale, and warning to all to be the best person you could be, because otherwise you would pay the price. A rule her daughter Emily always strived to live by. 

Emily was just as beautiful as her mother, and with the same gentle heart. Most did not view her that way because of the stories, but deep down, she knew her mother only had good intentions, even if she didn’t always agree with the path to achieve her goal. 

One of the most widespread stories was how the Enchantress cursed a bloodthirsty warlord into a creature that could only consumed the thing he spilled so much of. A creature of the night, doomed to this miserable and isolating fate forever. There was hope for the man, but all hope had been lost over the centuries as many women had disappeared into the forest, never to return. 

All those years, Emily wanted to seek the man out, to speak to him, and perhaps find a way to help him out of her mother’s curse. The Enchantress forbid it, not wanting her daughter to be killed by the monster she created. The curse was his own to deal with, and it was not her burden. While Emily understood that reasoning, she decided one day she needed to try. She had her magic, and was a very intelligent young woman, so she knew she could protect herself if necessary. 

Wandering deep into the forest, she finally found the old dilapidated castle, taking a breath of courage before going inside. It was too dark to notice most of her surroundings, but the figure at the top of the grand staircase caught her attention as he spoke. Admittedly, Emily was a little terrified, but stayed strong. This was her decision, and there was no turning back now. “And yet, here I am.”

Pomp and Circumstance

Lydia sat in the back of the limo, staring ahead as the magic barrier was breached. Her green eyes glared out the window as Auradon grew closer to them.

She didn’t know what she had done to deserve this chance, to finally get off of the Isle and away from her father. She wasn’t a kid of one of the biggest or baddest, nor had she known the original Villain Kids when they were still on the Isle. The redhead had made it a point to lay low and keep from showing up on anybody’s radar. So why her?

Lydia tried not to think about it, it didn’t matter. Right now she needed to concentrate on staring ahead. From now on there would be no looking back. 

Lydia did spare a glance at the other VKs, all far more notable than she. She wanted to speak and socialize but she found her voice was caught in her throat. So the redhead settled for grabbing a piece of candy instead.

It was finally time for summer vacation, and time to return home to relax. Most of the students returned to their large castles and estates, but for Emily, she just returned to her mother’s humble cottage in the woods. Frankly, she thought this was better than any castle in Auradon, because it actually felt like a home. 

Through the course of the year, Emily had grown close to her roommate from the Isle, Victoria Heart, so she was happily invited to stay with The Enchantress and her family until it was time for school to start again. Valerian, her older brother, however was at risk for being sent back to the Isle. Unwilling to follow rules, getting into fights, etc., Ben was reconsidering his decision on bringing him over, but The Enchantress fought for him, feeling that he could be saved. 

His decisions were not without consequence, though. Until he learned more discipline and respect, he was to help with chores around the house. Everyone had to help, of course, but Valerian was responsible for larger jobs that needed to be done. 

Emily woke up one morning, smelling something burning in the kitchen. “Hey, Val. Having a little trouble there?” She laughed softly.

“Fuck!” Lydia yelped, both in the surprise of jumping next to her, and at the frustration of having lost their game. Her slight pout turned into a teasing grin as she was pinned to the wall. “To the winner goes the spoils.“ The redhead purred, more than happy to return the kiss, hands planted on his shoulders. Her grin softened at his words before using her grip to spin them around so now he was on the wall. She kissed him again, nibbling at his bottom lip. “Happy Valentines day to you too, love.“
