John had always been a heavy sleeper, even his nightmares didn’t wake him until morning, and outside noise had little effect on him. Maybe because he used to sleep with the TV on for most of his childhood because it gave him peace to feel like someone was there with him. Either way he would have expected for his dog Saturday to be alerted to an intruder, isn’t that part of the reason you had a dog? For protection, to guard you.
So when John opened his bedroom door and walked into the living area of his apartment he stopped dead and confused at the sight of a half-naked male on his couch passed out. John looked around and nothing was out of place really, and he began to question himself. Had he brought someone home and just left them to the couch? It didn’t sound like him, he was never opposed to sharing his bed and having sleepovers for at least one night, and if he recalled correctly he didn’t go out last night, he ordered take out and everything. He saw one of the windows open and decided that was probably the way this male had gotten into his apartment. Great security, there. He looked at Saturday who had come out of the room and to his side and seemed to currently have little concern for the male on the couch, simply wanting to be taken outside. “Some guard dog you are,” John grumbled to her.
He figured the stranger wasn’t going anywhere or doing anything given the fact that they seemed clearly drunkenly passed out on his couch. So, he leashed Saturday and took her outside to do her business before coming back up to his apartment unleashing her. Now that her primary needs were met, she seemed to have some interest in the male on the couch now, skipping over to him and licking at his face as John sat in the armchair across from the couch, watching curiously as Saturday attempted to get the others attention.
