a’ight so im doing this a little differently than the others - im essentially doing this as if conan gray was the voice of declan rather than a live action actor. this is mostly bc the idea of anyone other than steven yeun portraying keith hurts my soul a little bit LKFNKNGK so unless someone somewhere looks like or can capture the essence of keith kogane, the ultimate comfort character, i have decided to look away.
how they’d be introduced: this is kind of a sporadic answer - while there is a lil bit of declan in the very first episode and in some flashback, he’s not formally introduced until season six with the other mfe fighter pilots!!
who the fandom ships them with: i mean im biased to declan/keith but declan is a whore so ig i don’t fault them for multishipping. that fandom was a shipping mess so here’s a short list in order of most to least likely: acxa, fish, viv, james, lance, leifsdottir. but honestly probably everyone bc that fandom was on Crack.
why the fandom loves them: declan is def a jerkass with a heart of gold. he acts tough but he’s a total sweetie; he really really loves his friends and family, and it’s clear that he’s a good person despite the assholeishness he may sometimes present. his dedication to keith is incredible, and he really portrays how the world kept turning even while the paladins were gone. he’s a really cool character, and it’s his relationships that ground him and make him feel real and easy to love.
why the fandom hates them: let’s be real - the kl/nce (censored so it doesn’t end up in their tag not bc i don’t like it!!) fandom would hate him as a “random” keith love interest (even though it was built up throughout). he’s also kind of a bitch skldnkfkln like i love him (and i gave him this trait from my own personality so it’s okay), but he’s kind of possessive and if he gets jealous or envious of someone he can turn that into dislike of them real quick. if he doesn’t like you, he will make that fact very clear so he can come off as rude easily.
what the cast relationship would be like: in every interview ive seen of him, conan (declan) has just such a great energy - hilarious, first, and just really nice, just seems like a good person. so i think he’d get along with everybody and fit in super well!! though he’s never had a big acting gig before (that i know of), his acting in his music videos is iconic, so i think he would fair pretty well. still i think steven (keith) would do his best to make him comfortable and confident. the cast group chats would pop off, especially the one i know would exist between him amanda (viv), brandon (fish), and aj (james/lotor). also i think he and jeremy (lance) would be bros idk why i just get the vibe.
what was their audition scene: there’s a scene where he and keith finally, finally get to sit down and discuss their relationship and i think that would be a really important piece to hear conan’s range!!
dependent upon the fandom, who they’d be on a press tour/at comic con with: i think for the most part it would be amanda and brandon (can’t split up that iconic trio), but probably a few with steven too!!
if they spoil things: again conan has really never done anything like this before, so i would wager that that poor guy would be high-alert at all times to keep any spoilers to the bare minimum. like just every interview he takes like two minutes to consider his wording. that being said, conan (my beloved) is kind of messy (both irl and on twitter), so if something slipped that wouldn’t surprise me KLNDKNFKF
if the show/movie has ended, are they happy with their character’s ending and the ending at large: declan is one of those ocs i would move heaven and earth to give a good ending, so yes, conan would be pleased as he damn well should <3
