Declan becomes the dream packs sober person. Like he may not know how to handle it, but he can act stable enough that the boys trust him. Especially after the fourth (au where everyone lives) and while Proko is being really gentle with K, Declan comes over, hovers over him on the couch, and tells him he needs to get up and shower. There’s no emotion in his voice, he wasn’t mean, but he said it with such authority that K actually gets up and drags Declan with him.
No sooner than Declan spoke the words, the front door to the Barns slammed in his face.
"Ronan!" Even through the wood, he recognized Parrish's voice.
"I didn't give him permission to bring Girlfr--"
"Declan has every right to bring his girlfriend to Christmas, Ro." For being trailer trash, the kid had sense. Loath as he was to admit it, Declan had no doubt that his brother had chosen well. "If you can bring me, he can bring Ashley."
"He was s'posed to bring Matthew."
"Matthew is driving himself," Parrish pointed out, saintly patient. "He'll be here in a few hours."
"That's not--" An indignant squawk, and Ronan hissed, "Opal!"
It was, in fact, Opal who opened to door to Declan once more, saying in her baby-raven croak of a voice, "He's not angry." Then she shrugged her narrow shoulders. "You know how he is."
Though they had met on a few occasions, Declan doubted he would ever not be thoroughly taken with Ronan's tiny dream girl. Nodding, Declan beckoned to where his Volvo was parked before he stepped into the old farmhouse, leaving the door ajar.
Leaning against the back of the old leather sofa, an arm draped too-casually around Parrish's shoulders, Ronan sneered, "So what's her name?"
Keeping his voice as cool as he could manage, Declan replied, "You already know his name."
Though Parrish gave a slight, startled smile one dusty brow lifted high, Ronan's eyes went saucer-wide, and he gasped, "What?"
"I said," Declan repeated, "you already know his--"
He was cut off when Opal chirped a greeting and stood aside when his date stepped into the house.
"Surprised?" His voice smoke-rough and his grin straight-razor sharp, Jiang stepped forward, heavy boots thunking heavily against the wooden floor as he moved to loop one possessive arm around Declan's hips.
Though Parrish looked surprisingly pleased and Opal didn't seem to care in the slightest, Ronan, for his part, simply said, "Holy fuck."
"Pretty much, yeah." Grabbing at Declan's silken tie, Jiang leaned up to press a kiss to a deep violet bruise lingering just beneath the starched collar of Declan's shirt, his dark eyes meeting Ronan's in challenge as his lips brushed purpled flesh.
Even as Opal settled on the sofa and Adam smothered a flustered smile against his shoulder, Ronan muttered again, "Holy fuck."
Another one 62. It’s only one night we’ll just share the bed. Jiang/Declan
It’s only one night, we’ll just share the bed. Also available on AO3
After his father’s death, Declan took on many of his father’s endeavours. He dealt with shady men, traded shady artifacts for money, and sometimes laughed along with them as if he was truly their equal. There were parties, often, a few of them he had to attend, a couple of which were out of state and forced him to spend the night there. In a suit, a pair of expensive shoes, and wearing his best tie, Declan did look very much like his father, a tall striking figure with an enticing smile and a captivating manner of speech.
It was at one of these parties that he saw Jiang without Kavinsky for the first time. Jiang had a glass of champagne, and when their eyes met, Jiang smirked, raised the flute in a silent toast, and downed his drink. Declan did the same.
Three months later they were at another such an event, this time drinking champagne together while talking.
“This time the party is awfully dull,” Jiang noted, looking around the room with a bored expression. “Nobody is trying to start a fight or a riot. How boring.”
“Your idea of ‘not boring’ is intriguing,” Declan shot back with a grin, not looking around the room in search of a companion for the evening. Jiang was more than an intelligent companion. Not only was he that and beautiful, he was intriguing in his own way - Declan still had no idea how andwhy Jiang was at these events.
“You want to get out of here?” Jiang asked, putting the glass down onto a tray that a passing-by waiter carried.
“Where would we go?” the question was answered with a question as Declan put his glass away too.
“I have a few ideas.”
Thirty minutes later they were trying to open the door to Jiang’s hotel room without having to break the kiss. Jiang had Declan pressed against the door as he repeatedly tried to shove the keycard into the slot, too busy with attacking Declan’s lips to actually see what he was doing.
“Jiang,” Declan groaned, feeling around for the handle, “Inside, yes?”
Jiang huffed as he pulled away to finally unlock the door. “Inside, yes.”
Jiang had managed to relieve Declan of his jacket, his tie and his shirt before Declan could take a good look at the hotel room. It was a fancy hotel, that he knew, as the receptionist had been a polite young woman, the elevator had not made weird sounds coming up, and they used a key card to get into the room. There was just one thing he had not expected.
“Jiang, there’s only one bed,” Declan looked down at Jiang, who was rather hurriedly undoing his shoes.
Jiang arched a brow, his hands moving up-up-up to help Declan out of his slacks.
“Yeah? It’s only one night, we’ll just share the bed. Relax.”
He pulled Declan’s slacks down with a triumphant grin, but Declan got his attention again, this time by cupping Jiang’s cheek tenderly.
“You think I’ll stay?”
Jiang nuzzled his palm, kissing it and then nipped at the soft skin.
“I know you will.”
“Yeah?” Declan caressed Jiang’s cheek again before letting go of his face. Jiang grinned, rather proud of himself, and got up, shoving Declan onto the big plush bed.
“I’ll make you want to stay, Lynch. Pinky promise.”
Declan did not learn why Jiang was at that party, but he did learn that Jiang kept his promises.
Declan looked up in confusion from his laptop. He had completely forgotten Kavinsky was even in there, having thought he was asleep. Be careful of his hair? Who’s hair? K was definitely not sober, his voice mumbled.
“Jiang’s. You have to be careful around his hair.” K’s words slurred together, looking at Declan through hooded eyes. “Why?” Declan asked, making Kavinsky huff, like the answer was right there and Declan didn’t see it.
“His hair is special to him. He takes care of it. His parents hated how he kept it long so they made him cut all the time. That’s why it takes him over an hour every day to fix it.” K stated, still talking like Declan was the idiot in this scenario. “Okay, be careful with his hair, got it.” It sounded like bullshit coming from Kavinsky, especially right now.
“I mean it Lynch. I’m not letting you hurt my boy like your brother hurt me. So you better listen.” It was then that Declan realized something. K was completely sober. He sat up, rolling his neck. “Hurt Jiang and I run you over with my car.” K threatened, then got up.
Declan sat in a stunned silence, unsure if that actually just happened. He always believed that K didn’t care for the other boys, but he had just basically threatened him if he ever hurt Jiang. He was quiet until his beautiful… something? He didn’t even know if he and Jiang were dating. But Jiang was beautiful, his hair wrapped in a towel and his tattoos shining with lotion. Declan couldn’t help but smile, and appreciate the man in front of him.
I hate the fact that the dream pack have literally became my comfort characters and they literally have no cannon context and their fandom is so small and I’m like “MY BOYS”
Ronan sees Declan’s car in Kavinsky’s driveway and is like “Um what-” and comes to get him and when Proko answers the door, Kavinsky starts laughing almost immediately and Ronan is like “what the fuck???” And Proko just grins and points up to where Declan and Jiang are making out at the top of the steps and Ronan is like “WHAT THE FUCK”
