I have a lot of qualms about Ned most of it in regards to Sansa and how she was treated (I love the guy but he seemed to only be a good parent to Arya and maybe the boys) but he actually did the right thing w/ Jon ... he barely knew Catelyn!
Yeah, I feel so much pain for Catelyn, and I hate that there was no way for Ned to protect Jon, except at her expense. It was such an unfair situation. But Ned literally had to choose between his wife’s feelings and a child’s life, and sometimes, in the understandable fervor to defend Catelyn, some of the arguments in her favor come dangerously close to implying that Ned was an asshole for not choosing Catelyn’s feelings over Jon’s life, and I just can’t agree with that. And yep, he had no reason to believe he could trust her with such a dangerous secret in the beginning. There wasn’t yet any trust built up between them, and she was as much a suspicious stranger to him as he was to her. It would have been exceedingly reckless of him to have shared that secret with her at that point. (There is an argument to be made though that he should have shared it with her later, after that trust had been built up.)
I do get really frustrated sometimes that Ned never even tried to talk to Sansa about the dangerous situation they were in in KL. If anything, Sansa needed that talk even more than Arya did, both because she was more naive and trusting than Arya, and also because she was the one who would be spending the rest of her life in that dangerous place. I think Ned really just didn’t know what to do with Sansa, tbh. I don’t think he knew how to relate to her at all; she was so very different from any woman or girl he’d ever had experience with before, even Cat, and I really think he just had no idea how to go about connecting with her. There’s also the fact that Sansa was, at the time, very angry and closed off to Ned because of what had happened with Lady, and she’d probably made it very clear that his overtures were not welcome. So, Ned’s reticence is understandable, but given the danger of the situation, he still should have at least tried with her like he did with Arya, and it’s always frustrated me that he didn’t. But then I remember that at the end of the day, he loved Sansa so much that he willingly sacrificed his honor in an effort to keep her safe, and I want to cryyyyyyyy.
whatever they're doing with alvareider confuses me? there's schneider being a part of the family and the sibling jokes but they're also the person the other goes to when they need someone..
Not to mention they were both basically dating the opposite sex version of themselves?
yeeeeah so S3 confused me so much the first time I watched it that I had to rewatch and write this endless meta to sort out the contradictory dynamic they’ve given them at this point. after doing that, I not only felt better but also less confused. you have to assume both that schneider’s trying to force his relationship with penelope onto familial grounds for Reasons and believe that every moment between them that seems blatantly shippy is part of a larger plan…but once you do that S3 is way more interesting.
and yes their choices in partners in S3 is really quite something, but i think that for penelope it makes sense–in both victor and max she found another soldier with a sense of duty and lots of passion, and when those relationships didn’t work out, she turned to mateo, who shares her intense focus on family and who she works well with. first she learned that she needs a partner who shares her values and future goals, and then she learned that that alone isn’t enough, she needs a guy who can bring that AND the passion. but from the guys we’ve seen, most men she’s willing to give a real chance to have a lot in common with her.
schneider’s girlfriend is definitely more puzzling to me because it makes sense that he would appreciate having a similar background in common…except it also doesn’t, because everything we saw in S1 & 2 showed us a guy who built his life as far from his upbringing as possible. the idea that it’s a good thing for him that his girlfriend is also privileged (but way happier to wield that privilege casually, in contrast to the way he’s very careful about how he displays his) is weird.
i absolutely expect s4 to somehow confront the fact that avery’s way too different from the alvarezes for schneider’s worlds to be able to coexist comfortably. the fact that avery got along with schneider’s father delightfully well before schneider had to kick him out of the building in order to make it clear that he chooses his real family? to me doesn’t bode well for the schnavery future. (though avery as a character is hecka cute and i love her.)
oh and also, as his first serious relationship, schneider totally has avery up on a pedestal that nobody could live up to, so i’m worried it’ll either crush him when they have to deal with conflicts beyond his sobriety and he realizes she’s flawed too, or that he’ll keep blaming himself for any issues they have because he sees her as so amazing and perfect. schneider deserves better than that.
declermontdiana replied to your post: honestly there’s an entire au version of this...
It definitely feels like they’re keeping them apart on purpose bc they know Q would tell her about E and she’d drop everything to help them… but like guys common they are best friends and as we’ve seen THEY NEED EACH OTHER
i just feel like we’re amping up to margo doing something unfixable because she doesn’t realize that eliot’s still alive in there and it’s going to be horrible thing happens because of basic breakdown in communication, which is the worst kind of plot ever
also like. margo didn’t even get confirmation that eliot was “dead” before the writers had her go back to fillory and act like he was? i think people forget that because q realized eliot was “dead” in the same episode. but she didn’t have confirmation; she just stopped.
More Fuck you flowers AU
I know I have done some of these already, but I’m too lazy to look them up. So I apologize if I reuse one... or if something I say here goes against something I said there, but the story is in progress and thus evolving.
Caroline and Katherine are exes. This doesn’t play a major role, but you should just know that Caroline has given her much better orgasms than Elijah ever did. Elijah may or may not know this (honestly - I haven’t decided if he knows yet)
Klaus has actually always wanted to have an empath working for him, and here is one all pretty and blonde only she. Refuses. To. Sign. Up. (Any contract that includes “I own your soul” in the small print is not one Caroline is here for)
Finn is her favorite of the Mikaelson siblings, even if she blames him for bringing them into her orbit at all. But she just can’t forget how he was dressed in old as balls clothes and it sounded hilarious when he swore, and she smiles whenever she thinks of it. So he’s her favorite.
Post-fic, Caroline likes to send Klaus flowers. Sometimes they’re incredibly sweet and he knows that she loves him to an impossible degree. Other times, they say you’re a douchecanoe and I’m going drinking with Enzo because of it, and he’s still not sure how she manages to make flowers actually tell him that in such agonizing detail.
After the Mikaelsons come into her life, she starts to get in regular shipments of the ugliest fucking vases you will ever see. But passive aggressive flower arrangements become their favorite form of arguing, especially once the daggers just... disappear one day. No one know where they went. No, Klaus, Caroline does not have a hidden vault under the floor in her store where she let Kol hide them, why would you think that?
Send me an AU, and I’ll give you 5 (or more) headcanons
Queliot obnoxious ask
-always wins when they play Trivia Crack
Eliot, but its because he cheats, and doesn’t think Quentin knows. (Quentin definitely knows, but just likes seeing the little smirk Eliot gives whenever he wins, so he doesn’t say anything.)
-laughs when their partner trips on something
Eliot, but only once he’s sure Quentin’s okay. Then he teases him mercilessly.
-would drop ice down the back of the other’s shirt as a joke
Eliot, but then Quentin would go Full Retaliation, and it’d be an ice war for weeks.
-spoils the ending of books/movies
Quentin, but only because he’s so excited. Don’t worry, Eliot was never planning on reading the book or watching the movie. He intentionally lets Quentin spoil him because he likes hearing the rambling “you won’t bELIEVE WHAT HAPPENS” speeches.
-always posts a picture of the other as their MCM or WCW
Eliot. Quentin’s too busy physically showing people a picture of Eliot.
-eats the last piece of cake in the fridge before the other can have it
Eliot. And then he buys Quentin a whole ass cake to make up for it, and then ends up eating most of that, too.
-obnoxiously celebrates Monday Punday every week
Quentin. Eliot pretends to hate it. But Quentin gets these stupid little proud grins that make his eyes light up, and Eliot can only pretend to be mad for about five seconds.
-makes loving hack posts on the other’s Facebook/Instagram/Tumblr/Twitter etc
Bold of you to assume either of them has any type of social media
-has to beat their partner in every game
Eliot
-keeps their partner up half the night talking about random stuff
Quentin. Eliot loves it.
-eats too much garlic and tries to kiss their partner anyway
Eliot. Quentin’s nonplussed about it, though.
The issue is that Klaus spoils Lizzie and Hope is jealous ... let me dream ok
Oh my god, you know what’s so interesting, is that for some reason I spaced out earlier today and I was like envisioning this what if in which Klaus and Lizzie have a chat. Because in theory, it would’ve been interesting to have someone in her life who’s mental state is more reflective of her own. Not that she’s anywhere near the vicinity of how whacked Klaus was, obviously, but like someone who’s mind is more on the hectic side, ya know? Because Alaric isn’t that person, neither is Josie, I think Caroline would sort of understand, but wouldn’t be able to relate to having moments where it’s night and day, whereas I think Klaus would.
Am I making sense, lemme know if I sound insane, lmaoo.
@declermontdiana The first chapter is already up here! I actually really love the series bc rare pair soulmates are my j a m even though it’s by far the one I hear about least from people who read my stuff lol
