I remember talking to my Grandmother one time about her mother, Madea. My Madea transitioned when my mother was young so very clearly I never met this lady but I just knew something. My grandmother started crying and saying, “How do you know that? How do you know that abt my mama?” And I didn’t know. And I can’t claim to know for real still. But I do know... there is some theory, praxis, ethic, reality to having knowledge that might not be in a book but is more factual than some science. This is why I say: - My ancestors - My education - My lived experience ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ This is what authorizes me. Because my work is #DecolonizingAuthority I talk a LOT about my own and my clients (and my friends) #ImposterSyndrome. How we walk into the room on the shoulders of our elders and ancestors, years of lived experience, and hecka education and still be like, “👀 Am I supposed to be here?” 😬 That is by design: 1. The space usually doesn’t look like us. 2. Or if it does, we still have fear of worthiness because we have been convinced that we have to work twice as hard to get half as much (and that’s accurate but also damaging to the psyche... sheesh! You mean to tell me I have to live a life where I do more and still get less? Yikes! How soul crushing is that?) 3. We don’t know we are already worthy. Like, this - what we are currently doing and being is already good enough! Part of this is because we are so use to excellence that when dope things happen we be like, “Ok. And? What’s next?” <- That! Lord help! 😩 So I decided before I moved to New York that every day I would do THE MOST even if I have to do it scared. But my goal... my LIFE goal is for the freedom that comes with no fear. 🙏🏾 Beto Orourke lost the Senate race in Texas and decided that he is still worthy of and qualified to run for President! 🤔🙊😂 Like... the caucacity! There was so much healing for me in this episode of @laylafsaad’s #GoodAncestor Podcast. @goodancestorpodcast || Let me tell you something, an easy way to know what people struggle (or have struggled) the most with is to look at the areas where they are excellent; their calling. People tend to do their highest vibrational work in the tender spaces from which they have been delivered or are being delivered. I had a broken heart; God called me to minister to the broken hearted. I dealt with (sometimes still deal with)#ImposterSyndrom and feelings of inadequacy that often left me (leave me) waiting for permission; God called me to teach/preach the gospel of #DecolonizingAuthority. 💁🏾‍♀️ One dope thing abt purpose tho, is not only will God call you but the Most High will also surround you with folk that might not have your EXACT calling but they certainly have a work that is in line with your message because we are all ONE body connected by the All. Our purposes coincide. It’s how I am called to teach abt Decolonization and God connected Layla and I because part of her calling is to center the ancestors and our present work of becoming Good Ancestors. Do you get how that’s connected? We can’t decolonize anything if we don’t think abt the elders and the ancestors. That’s pretty much in the Top 3 steps of what to do to decolonize everything! Know you are already standing on the shoulders of the Beloved. You’re qualified! Go! 👩🏾‍💻 The more I do work around Decolonizing everything the more I feel a deepening in my calling to teach, preach, train and equip folk with TANGIBLE tools to establish themselves in their work. When I talk about #DecolonizingAuthority, understand that I’m doing more than theorizing some ideology that isn’t practical - this is my living. My existence is #Decolonization. So last year when I was sharing with @spiritualwellnesswarrior that I wanted to teach and going into detail abt what that looked like for me she interrupted me and said, “You are the institution.” Have you ever heard the vice of God? It’s not a big booming masculine voice. Not always. In my life it usually sounds like a black woman or a woman with #African #ancestors 27 seconds away in her lineage. Sometimes a man but usually a #blackwoman. This word from Sonsiris was the word of God. || I don’t have to wait my turn. It’s my turn now. Its always my turn. When God gave me the #dream that was my permission to begin. So I started working towards building a school that would #DecolonizeEverything (@theamonyee added that specific language which was the language I was searching for as I grew the platform). || This school is taught exclusively by #blackwomen with POC in mind. You don’t have to be black or a woman to take a class but you gotta be prepared to do the work of Decolonization - starting with your mind which has a natural inclination that you (nonBlack folk) shld be at the center. || This (start and finish at your own pace) course launched in December of 2018! I’ve added a payment option for those that need it.
