camping wip?! <3

Adam somehow convinced the rest of the team that a survivalist camping trip was a good way to hone their skills.  Dee Dee and Nate get lost (”we’re not lost, we just don’t know where we’re currently located”/”Dee, that’s...we’re lost.”) during a hike and Dee’s dormant Girl Scout survival skills activated.  It’s not the coziest or most romantic of situations, but hey, Nate can say that he has a girlfriend who can make a pretty effective M funnel fish trap to catch them dinner and instruct him on how to construct a shelter from the rain that’s coming in while she builds a fire.

Mason and Felix actually talked Adam into heading back to civilization ten minutes into the planned 20 mile overnight hike to give the lovebirds some privacy.  Felix even got a trip to the nearest McDonald’s in on the way home.

🥊 Does your OC prefer to take the lead or follow orders? With everyone or just with certain people? Is there a reason for this?

It depends on if she’s confident that she can take the lead in a situation or not!  Normally she does like to take on more of a leadership role, but she’s not arrogant enough to know when to step aside and let people better suited step up.

🐍 Is your OC a good liar? How easy is it for them to tell lies? What is the biggest lie they’ve ever told and did they ever get found out? On the other hand, what is the biggest lie someone has told your OC and did they believe them?

She prefers to tell the truth when possible, but if a lie is necessary to protect a loved one, she’ll do it in a heartbeat.  This sort of makes her the biggest hypocrite ever, seeing as one of the things that she hates is that her mother lied to her for her entire life in order to do just that.  Dee’s still trying to wrap her head around that fact and she’s not coping well.

🌷 How much effort does your OC put into their looks? Do they care much about how they’re dressed or what their hair looks like or are they not bothered? Could they be considered a snob or a slob?

She likes to look cute and will take a good bit of effort to look so, especially when it comes to clothes.  She’s not snobbish, but she does like buying new clothes and accessories.  Her entire hall closet is nothing but shoes and her bathroom has so many bottles of hair serums and leave-ins and masks organized just so amid the neatly stored hair blower, curling iron, and flat iron.  She doesn’t like to use a lot of makeup, so she concentrates on making sure that her skincare routine is on point (most of her paycheck goes here) and is done religiously.

It’s never too late for asks!

🍏 When your OC says “I had a bad day” what does that tend to mean? Is it really as bad as they’re saying or are they being a bit dramatic?

A bad day is more like Dee Dee and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. She does a lot of “externally I’m smiling, but internally I’m screaming” to hide how she’s feeling and she tries to not let things get to her, but she has a LOT of feelings and she’s very small.  They can’t all stay inside all the time, no matter how much she tries to hold it together. 

On bad days, she’ll grab her cat Cashew as soon as she gets home and bury her face in his belly floof while he honks sympathetically at her or just faceplant in bed and scream into a pillow before getting up and calling for some Comfort Food takeout.

🌸 What’s a sentence that would make your OC’s day better? One that would make them laugh? One that would make their day worse? Why? What words would you have to say to them to completely ruin their day?

Better: Nate expressing interest in her interests, even if he doesn’t get it. Laugh: Pretty much anything Felix says.  She loves her best friend so much. Worse: Bobby or Douglas trying to flirt with her. Day Ruiner: Rebecca wanting to spend some time together to bond.  No thanks.

❤️ What inspired you to make this OC? How long have you had them? How have they changed in the time you’ve been developing them?

I wanted to make a detective who was normally very personable and charismatic suddenly become shy when the attention, especially romantic attention, was aimed in her direction. I think I’ve had Dee Dee all of a week now, but I would die for her and Sir Cashew von Noodlesworth.  She’s still very much in the development stage, so anything can happen!

There were consequences to actions, Deirdre found out, especially when those actions were texting “I have the next three days off, what do you want to do?” to Nate, but accidentally hitting the group text instead because she had him as the first person listed.

“I was supposed to be getting laid,” she moaned, hauling a heavy backpack from the back of her car and pulling it onto her shoulders.  “Not doing some group camping trip.”

“Still time to do both, Short Stuff,” Mason commented, making her jump as he sparked up a cigarette and leaned against the side of her car.

“Do I look like I want ticks in places ticks have no place being?” She put her hands on her hips. “And what did I tell you about sneaking up on me like that? Going to have to put a bell on you.”

He grinned. “Something tells me Natey wouldn’t mind checking you over.”

Deirdre could feel her face turn a brilliant shade of red. “Come on,” she stammered, starting to walk to the beginning of the nature trail Adam had texted her to meet at.  “We don’t want to keep them waiting.”

Rowena

Has a scar on her right knee from where she fell as a kid while roller skating down a steep street. She made it all the way down in one piece, screaming the entire way and making some impressive jumps to avoid obstacles, but then when she turned to go “did you see THAT?!?” to her friends, she ate dirt.

Loves, loves, *loves* fall because that means the annual apple picking season, pumpkin spice everything, and cozy sweater weather is upon Wayhaven.

Doesn’t have a signature scent she sticks to, but is fond of clean, herbal scents/perfumes and lemon

Deirdre

Owns a cat that sounds like he swallowed a bicycle horn. His name is Sir Cashew Von Noodlesworth, or Cashew (Cashie, Mr. Noodle Man, my Baby Noodle, biggest baby bean man) for short, after he tried to eat her entire snack supply of said nuts. Cashew is an oriental shorthair who is mostly all ears and extremely long limbs that she rescued from the shelter by asking for the dumbest cat they had. Just an absolute goof of a kitten. She loved him at first honk.

Was a Gold Star Girl Scout who specialized in outdoor survival skills. Throw her in the wilderness with only a pocket knife and she’ll have a whole mini settlement set up by the time you pick her up a week later.

Throws herself out of airplanes every chance she gets. Girl is a skydiving adrenaline seeker. Has definitely taken Felix on a jump before, much to Nate’s worry.
