She Deserved the Light All my life, there was only dark, so I became my own small spark. A lonely glow, a fragile flame, but it was mine—I had no shame. Through endless voids, I swam alone, my light, my guide, my heart, my home. But then I saw a glow unknown, not made by me, not mine—its own. I reached, I trusted, I let go, and in that warmth, I lost my glow. Now here I lay, the fight was long— I made my light, but I was wrong. She fought, she burned, she shined so bright, and still, she lost—she deserved the light.

Did you know that while some people think the plural for octopus is should be octopi, it can also be octopuses or octopodes? The word octopus is originally Greek, not Latin, so some believe that the word should be conjugated following Greek rules (octopodes) while others say that since the word is now in English, it should just be conjugated according to those rules (octopuses)!

:0 You're good! I honestly didn't think anyone would be interested in talking about octop(odes) for jokes. But yeah, I just think they're neat! There's a general subset of blanket octop(uses), the females have large tissue flaps on four of their limbs that they keep rolled up most of the time, and they unfurl their "blankets" to scare off predators. The males are...tiny and that's about it lmao. The type that I like the most (and some actual good footage came out back in january) is the iridescent rainbow blanket octopus.

This was a commission for DarugoDream on Deviantart! He wanted me to create another Maerow (harpy mermaid) for his world, so I used a viperfish and a cardinal. Aren’t they beautiful? Ya know, one of the best parts of believing in a Creator is all the wacky things He's made. Like all those alien deep sea creatures? There is a mind that went "You know what would be super cool? Ocean monsters! They're gonna be reflective so that you can't see them from below and also glow in the dark! And if you pull them out of the deep they'll just look like a blob!" Like how fun is God? "I'm gonna let this shrimp see way more colors than my humans do! And it'll be able to lunge so fast it can boil water. Yeah that sounds awesome. I can't wait for people to discover these things!"

I like to imagine the angels were just egging Him on.
