I have a few more questions about your deepbreathers, if that's O.K.! First, do they have a concept of kissing on their own, or would that be introduced by a partner? What does their paralyzing venom feel like? And would it be alright to commission a fic using them? Thank you for indulging me, I really love these aliens! -Snail

that’s fine!! I love talking abt my ocs/monsters and not feeling like I’m boring ppl lmao

deepbreathers didn’t have kissing probably until 50 years after they met a race that did. for most of their evolutionary lives, their mouths were like, eating and breathing, if they went on land. they do really enjoy it though, since they tend to have sensitive mouths to make sure they don’t eat anything spiney.

they had something similar, kind of, though. in their society it was generally a romantic gesture to loop your arm around their waist; like, only long-time partners do that bc their torsos are extremely sensitive and delicate.

their venom feels like, a bee sting but less, and then a spreading coldness that isn’t uncomfortable. like if you’ve ever held some very very solid ice, but skipping the pricking painful part of your nerves telling you to drop it. just a soothing, cool numbness that fades after a few hours.

I’d be perfectly fine with that! I’d actually be really excited to get off my ass and write something with them tbh,,, you’re super welcome tho, I love talking abt them!

whats theyre like…shape. ik it varies but like, do they have things on their head? how many eyes/limbs?

they're usually p close to pear shaped, tho they're generally just kinda wide. they have the requisite tentacle legs, like,,, 16 probably. they have sssix eyes. yeah. they stack on their faces, like just a line of eyes from their forehead to their cheeks, one big ass horn in the middle of their forehead like a rhino beetle, and six beetle-y arms. their backs are covered in chitin and their fronts are v soft and jelly-like and see through, so you can see their weird glowing organs lmao

oh, thanks! and sure.

they come from an ocean planet with only a few minor land masses and sand bars, but the tides are controlled by a few different moons, and they’re an advanced species, so they can both breathe on land and had space travel very early, insofar as their evolution. they had space ships when half the population had no lungs, honestly.

their main diet is small fish, and luminescent sea fungus. they tend to be colored completely in one color of different shades, like all green but different shades of green, and are some of the larger species, being p wide and heavy, with all those extra limbs.

they’re a very. very violence-averse race, and most even in any kind of galactic federation don’t know how to use weapons at all. I’ve mentioned their breeding, so there’s that, but they’re actually considered very “virile”. they have a 45-70% chance of having viable young with every humanoid race as-yet discovered, and interspecies relationships (as well as polyamourous, as that’s their base profile for relationships) are very common.

their dispositions are really sweet, and many tend towards the medical practices because they can be very soothing, and humans especially are Very vulnerable to their deep-speak, it just puts them right out.

deepbreathers are jellyfish/octopus/beetle people btw

they have tentacles, skittery little arms, big ass horns on humanoid faces (almost Always very square and “masculine”, tho genders are considered fluid since each one can do whichever bit w the sex), and their chest is see-through, extremely sensitive (no shirts Ever) and inflates to make them larger when scared. the tentacles have retractable venom claws, and they have surprisingly humanoid genitalia.
