#alias is an artist whose music i really connected with in 2000 when i moved back from the uk the first time to the bay area (where he had coincidentally relocated to). i first saw alias and other anticon artists at a #djrobone benefit in san jose. #deeppuddledynamics and #anticon material was in heavy rotation, #savior, the alias remix specifically with #slug of #atmosphere, #eyedea, and #sole has been a long time anthem of mine! i remember seeing plenty of anticon shows all over the bay in the early 2000s and always getting a lot out of their shows. i can't believe alias is gone at only 41 due to a heart attack, damn! yet another reminder of our mortality and specifically how limited our time is here in this life form. the death of alias has brought up so much for me and prompted me to reach out to folks to show my appreciation for them because we're not even guaranteed the next moment and i'd rather not regret not making that effort to reach out to folks when i had the chance. this has also brought up falling outs with folks that are and aren't worth repairing. damn, the death of a virtual stranger has me processing a lot!
