They're clearly very insecure, because I tried to defend you, and as soon as they replied, they blocked me. I'm just really upset by the fact that they called you a cyberbully and said that you're trying to hurt autistic people because you've done so much for antibullying and you're honestly a pillar of our community and I find so much security and comfort in your blog.
That just smacks of “I want the last word and I’ll be unfair to get it.”
And all I said in that reblog was
Don’t buy this art. The money goes to a charity that harms autistic people.I wish the OP would support ASAN instead at autisticadvocacy.org because that charity really helps autistic people without trying to silence or erase us.
Nowhere do I say “omg this art sucks” or “don’t buy any of this artist’s work” or anything like that.
The fact that the person will not listen to us about Autism Speaks makes me sad. I won’t call it traitorous to the community because if the OP is the caregiver, they’re probably the one feeding the autistic artist all kinds of lies about Autism Speaks.
Saying Autism Speaks is good because “it helped me” is like telling an abuse victim their abuser isn’t a bad person because they work at a homeless shelter. That doesn’t negate the fact that they go home and beat the shit out of their victim.
The same thing goes for “thinking of all the good they do” when it’s just a shallow veneer and the person saying that is caught up in it instead of facing reality.
It’s a shame. That artist is so talented and the art is beautiful, but it’s supporting something ugly.
I appreciate you defending me, but it sounds like this person is not going to listen.
I sincerely hope nobody is sending that OP any hate, because I don’t condone that and will not be happy if I find out someone is doing that. (Not that I would think it’s you. It could be the person in the moon for all we know.)
