Writing Snippet (Hero and Villain exchange)
Villain caught off guard gets held up in an alley while in their civilian attire. As they are held at knife point against the wall. Their head is spinning they can’t quite hear what their assailants are demanding from them. Their eyes trail to the street hazy. Hoping someone would step in just this once, to no avail.
Getting more irritated that their demands are not being met they shout louder. Throwing villain harshly to the ground. If they weren’t on their way back home after receiving even harsher injuries from the head supervillain in their city they would have been a bit more able to handle minuscule thugs. As they brace for an even deeper wound to be added to their growing pile, they fear for the worst.
When hero comes taking out one of the assailants for the other to take them to retreat.
Though the hero doesn’t not recognizing them. (Though in all honesty they would have done the same if they knew it was villain. No matter how hard they try, they could never truly hate them).
As villain is utterly stunned they look up at their heroic saviour from the ground. Profusely thanking them. To which hero looks kindly and answers “It’s what anyone should have done and I wouldn’t have done nothing less for anyone else.”
The villain quickly interjects “But not just anyone would have done that!” How many people crossed their path to never lend a hand to help or raise any objection to whatever would have been done to them. What to their eyes seemed to be a civilian in need. Dejected they think of how in part that had set them on the lone path towards villainy in the first place.
The hero’s eyes fall to the ground solemnly look down. “ Perhaps not…” but a look of determination flashes across their features stating firmly. “But they should! Hence why I am.”
Leaving no air to question or challenge to their hopeful statement. Villain became utterly entranced by
the hero in that moment as time slowed and admiration grew.
They didn’t notice hero calling them back to reality asking if they need help getting home. With a dazzling smirk adding they would gladly escort them if they need the reassurance of getting there safely and unharmed.
Not wanting to be parted from the hero just yet they agree and enjoy their quietly comforting walk back.
Hero bids them a charming adieu with a slight bow and a hand over their heart. Goes back to their patrolling. Leaving villain spiraling after they close the door.
Sliding down against it with hands rushing to find their face. Rethinking how throughout their crummy life no one ever stepped in to save them. Only for hero, their hero to come in like a knight in shining armor to rescue them… Oh what a week this will be the next chance they see them again.
