4 September 2015 —Hi! I have a story. But if you're uninterested, you can skip on to the numbers.
A new trainer at the gym (who I learned is from NYC) was checking me out and miring today (there's a difference between the two), and after a set on deadlift, he broke the ice with the "are you a powerlifter" question. He was annoying. He wouldn't stop talking to me, even when I explicitly said that I felt like I was losing focus, and even when I went up for another set, he literally moved right next to the bar and kept talking, at which point I said, "let me do my set." I know I can be too nice sometimes. Or maybe I'm just really bad at ending conversations. I was so desperate to leave the situation that I said, "well, it was nice meeting you," which worked well as a conversation ender.
The entire thing bothered me. I was annoyed that he approached me, that he spoke to me with this sort of confidence, and that I was clearly approached because of how I looked. The good news is I told this story to a gym friend, and he advised me to start telling people that he is my dad. (It's quite plausible.) And it actually worked! After we talked, and I was benching, someone on the other side of the gym asked him who I was, and he responded, "that is my daughter, and you better stay away from her because she is only allowed to be with educated, successful men." Ha!
Barbell Deadlift —Because I did SLDL yesterday, my hamstrings were DOM'd out, and so I had to do a few extra warm up sets. It was also the first time (possibly ever) that I started my workout with deadlift. It went great! 135x1x5 165x1x5 185x1x3 205x1x2 210x1x6 215x1x6 rep PR!!⭐️ My official 1RM is 225, but I'm convinced now that it is higher

Wide Grip Lat Pulldown —Ended my workout after this because my calluses are angry at me. They're open and in pain. 😕 90x1x10 100x3x8
