In February I had my second chance to play this absolutely weird but fantastic character of mine, my Spitalian Preservist. His appearance wasn’t planned in the first place therefore we had to improvise a bit with the costume (and I had to wear the gasmask for the whole scene because of my beard, an absolute NO GO for a Spitalian! :) ) but the scene came out really well and so did the pictures!

full armour

Being some kind of engineer, my hellvetic wears a lighter type of armour as a regular foot soldier. Below is my nov 2015 version of it - except it lacks of dirt, which is a pretty important ingredient to get things look and feel realistic. Especially in a post apocalyptic setting.

The tactical vest is what holds everything together and it's therefore essential for the whole armour. The arm plating is attached to the torso with two hooks each, I’ll come to this back later. The military belt is hung by six loops. Which I also used to fasten the upper leg plating and padding. Finally, the leg plating is attached to the upper leg padding. Details on how I built the plating etc. will follow on separate posts.

Back to the vest. It’s unfortunately pretty easy to recognise it as that, a tactical vest. So we have to disguise it. This could be done by attaching stuff to it and by covering it with even more plating.

These plates are made of 0.5mm steel and are attached to belt straps by blind rivets. The belt straps are simply fiddled through the mounting points of the vest.
