On the dark moon, we honor the Witch Mother from whom we descend. In the darkness, light a candle and speak these words of power, or call upon her however you feel led. “Great Hekate, Sovereign Queen. I claim my power. The energy of your fires burns within me. Your mighty winds are my breath, The waters of your creation run through my veins, And my feet walk your road. Like you, I am the darkest night of the Under World, The starry heights of the Upper World, And all points in between. I am Eternal, Strong and wise, Powerful beyond measure. Sovereign. Free. True. Justified. Sacred. Witch.” Learn more about honoring Hekate on the dark moon: https://www.patheos.com/blogs/keepingherkeys/2018/05/simple-ways-to-honor-hekate-on-the-dark-moon/ The precise time, if you are inclined to precision, is determined using the time of the astrological new moon. The Witches day begins at sundown, so to be most precise, rituals would be performed on the night containing the astrological new moon. For example, if the time of the new moon was at 10:30 am, the ritual would be performed the previous evening. We’re all busy witches and Hekate knows this. Give yourself 48 hours to do your ritual.” from Keeping Her Keys FB page Image by David Stoupakis. Learn more: https://www.crossconnectmag.com/post/122004948073

No unique English translation of the Greek word deinon is available. Most generally, it is used of that which inspires awe or wonder. But in different contexts it can be used of the dazzling brilliance of human intellect, of the monstrousness of an evil, of the terrible power of fate. That which is deinon is somehow strange, out of place; its strangeness and its capacity to inspire awe are intimately connected. Deinon frequently imples a disharmony: something out of keeping with its surroundings, or what is expected, or what is desired. One is surprised by it, for better or for worse.
