always thinking about Ulani Belor and Gilora Rejal. bad bitch Cardassian scientists I love you. Ulani's little snakelike head movements and cheerful, pleasant, HELPFUL personality (much unlike any other Cardassians we've seen lol), intelligent and chic and flirty if somewhat sexist (poor Miles) Gilora... the two of them looking forward to offworld cuisine and being disappointed instead of thrilled by Quark's offering of Authentic Cardassian Cuisine...
Dejar is also here I guess. The Obsidian Order has its #failgirls too
From Patreon, December: The USS Historia's Crew!
This group of enterprising young individuals distinguished themselves in the eyes of their peers by actually taking the captain at his word and leaving after he made his big speech about how "This will be a dangerous mission and even if we succeed, we may all be court martialed. I wouldn't think less of any of you if you were to leave." Shortly afterward they all transferred to the USS Historia, a vessel tasked with revisiting already contacted planets and seeing how they're faring.
Leda: [She/Her] A Bajoran woman who is very traumatized by the occupation but she doesn't perceive herself as such. She's sort of in a nebulous relationship with an Orion named Nerru who was her childhood friend that she lost contact with until just recently. She appears to be a very fun loving, easy going, chill person who's a bit of a flirt and she kind of is but she's also a person torn between the extremes of deep passion/suffering and total apathy. She has a hard time opening up to others and has lost a good deal of the people she cared about. She is a proponent of extreme violence in the face of injustice. She's a very quick thinker and loves doing physical things so has taken to a lot of different sports. Bisexual.
Leda joined Starfleet because it was "As good a place as any - hot meals, hot people to eat 'em with." <- That's what she tells people, but in reality she was extremely depressed and her community pushed her to try something new, see the universe, and she went for it thinking she had nothing to lose. She joined the Historia specifically because she heard Varith was transferring there.
Avriya: [She/Her] An Andorian woman who is very paranoid and distrustful of others. She's a very polarizing figure in the scientific community - often listening to and implementing really wild ideas. Sometimes this blows up in her face but other times it leads to brilliant new discoveries. A lot of people like her because she listens to those who aren't very widely acclaimed or who others dismiss, willing to lend an ear to the little guy so to speak. However, she does have a tendency to be hostile and accusatory and is easily riled up. She really likes fashion and draws outfits for fun. She also loves heavy metal music and poetry. Mainly attracted to men but also attracted to dominant women. Keeps getting warned for breaking dress code with little accessories.
Avriya joined Starfleet because it seemed like a good move scientifically and also to see if there was any truth to a myriad of conspiracies about the organization. She joined the USS Historia because it was a way to still be in Starfleet without so much constant danger - allowing her more time to focus on her research and various investigations. She didn't join for space battles after all!
Varith: [Any] Tuvok's youngest son or child in general bc canon switches depending on my mood! Her paternal grandfather finds it VERY satisfactory that she's joined Starfleet as a scientist but her oldest brother Sek does not seem pleased with another one of his family members joining up after what happened with their father. Varith is someone who enjoys teasing others and being alone. Can speak too bluntly or be overly pragmatic, unused to the way other species handle emotion. Only really seems gentle and dutiful when it comes to his family, whom he obviously cares about a great deal. However, Varith actually does think a lot about others, a fact which becomes clearer to the non-Vulcans around them as time goes on. Was a very sickly child but has gotten healthier with age (though still chronically ill, is now not in the hospital every other month). Only attracted to women and does NOT like being dominated in any capacity. Very into anime and has a very cluttered room.
Varith joined Starfleet to follow in his father and grandfather's footsteps after considering joining the Vulcan alternative. Doesn't really see either option as better, just chose Starfleet because his father and grandfather did and she wants to know what the fuss is about. They joined the Historia because it provided a safer, more stable work environment. When asked why they wanted to join Starfleet during their entrance exam he said he wanted to show the universe Vulcan's kindness, not simply its logic. They now find this a bit cringe but deep down she still stands by it.
Dejar: [He/Him] A Trill without a symbiote, which he thinks is the end of his entire life. Dejar is very strait laced, by the book, and efficient. However this doesn't mean he's boring exactly. He's prone to showboating and bragging - a perfectionist who gets a thrill from being better than those around him but denies this even to himself. He grew up being praised and adored by everyone (from his perspective, in reality there were MANY who didn't like him) and it was seen as natural that he'd be given a symbiote. However, he was passed up!! And in favor of some NOBODY!?? This really shattered his worldview and sense of self, so he shaved off his hair and joined Starfleet. Despite the above personality traits, he isn't a MEAN person exactly. More immature. He enjoys helping others and sees it as his duty to do so. Though slightly irritable, he tries not to let this irritation show. Very easily hurt by criticism and just as easily bolstered by praise. HATES when people think he's a musclehead bc he's in security. He doesn't have a label for his sexuality and gets crushes really easily.
He joined Starfleet to find himself but thinks that's such a lame thing to say so instead says he joined to do good and prove to himself that he could do great things even without a symbiote (he didn't really think that at the time though, it was a bit of an aspirational goal. Now? .....Maybe....he's getting closer.) He joined the Historia because he wanted to transfer off the previous ship after that whole opening fiasco. He felt others were judging him and was beginning to feel self-conscious enough that it was affecting his mental health negatively, reminding him of his community back home being disappointed in him. The Historia just happened to be the first place with a relevant availability.
