I’m not a fan of 1:1 copying a character into a CS (and this applies to OCs and “kinsonas” as well) but there’s nothing wrong with making an inspired design utilizing elements of a copyrighted character if it makes the person happy. A dekudog in my eyes is no different than fans making AU fanfiction or fanart of a series they like. It’s true that some people do try to use it as an excuse to try and gain “ownership” over their favorite character and that’s one thing I take serious issue with, but as long as the person isnt doing that and they’re not trying to sell what’s the problem? Let people do what they want with their money. Life’s short and miserable for a lot of people right now, let them do something that brings them happiness. Maybe it’s “wasting money” to you but it’s not your money so why does it matter to you anyway?
Dekudogs aren’t creative and that’s a fact but at the same time I didn’t see anyone saying they were creative so that feels like a useless thing to bring up.
