An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
The streets were busy, and Ochako marvelled that her surroundings were swarming with people despite it being office hours now. Every once in a while, she would be greeted by civilians, vendors and pedestrians who would thank her for her work and show their appreciation. Needless to say, Ochako was honoured and she would of course let them know that she acknowledged and treasured their admiration for her. Sometimes with words and sometimes with a smile.
Her patrol hours were nearing the end. The next shift was supposed to be taken up by Lance. There had been a lot of tension between the two of them since that day and Ochako was thankful to their controller to be so considerate towards her and the current circumstances.
Deep in her thoughts, she still waved at a child who excitedly tugged his mother’s skirt to point at her. She giggled, remembering the early bits of her childhood when she would be in similar awe of the local heroes and show the same enthusiasm when they used to pass by. What good days they were!
"Uravity! Come in, Uravity!" A voice in her intercom screamed, all of sudden.

Contradiction or Not - Izuocha fanfiction
Um, well, this was actually supposed to be a submission of Izuochaweek (maybe for prompt Strength/Weakness) which is now long over but maybe consider this as a small present from me for the new year.
HAPPY NEW YEAR! EVERYONE!
...
Contradiction.
The word itself represents ''difference".
It means - a combination of statements, ideas, or features which are opposed to one another.
Like the colour 'red'.
It is an emotionally intense colour. Full of life and spontaneity. It is the colour that denotes love, desire and passion. Though, It's noteworthy how at the same time it also signifies war, danger and bloodshed.
A contradiction. A severe one.
Same goes for him and his desire to save people.
His Altruism.
Izuku has always been the one of dash towards the forefront whenever someone was in danger. His smile made people feel safe and Ochako cannot even begin to count the number of times when his presence and and that upward curve of his lips has soothed her heart.
His desire to protect people from harm. Every failure becoming a personal loss forced him to move forward. Never to make the same mistakes again. When she looks up at him, she sees a man worthy of respect and admiration. A man, no, a symbol of hope and peace. But when she looks down at him, she sees a man, vulnerable and in need of love.
A contradiction again.
“Uraraka-san?”
She is pulled out of her musings when his voice rips through her thoughts. The pale walls of the hospital reflect the sunlight, making the room look even brighter. The breeze that blows plays with her hair as her gaze flicks towards him.
“Deku-kun?"
She asks, wondering if there was something he needed. Because...the condition he was in, would not enable him to perform even the menial tasks. It's a sad thing.
“Is everything okay?”
Ochako lets out a rueful smile. There was it again .
In a condition where he cannot even move his own limbs, he is still worrying about her.
Ochako forced out a loud laugh, “Of course! Everything is okay! Don't worry about it.”
Don't worry about anything. Only yourself. Just yourself.
Her eyes fell back on to the half peeled apple and then again on his green shining eyes. She gave him a soft genuine smile.
She can remember the day it happened as clear as today. The helplessness, the desperation, the fear - all clumped into one. Intertwined so fiercely that she could not bring herself to distinguish them separately.
After a long drawn battle with a quirk based terrorist organisation, they had won. He had struggled against several of them, defeating every single one of the villains, taking blow for the sake of his comrades and saving masses of people. At the end, his body was at its limits, ready to give up and collapse.
But the alarm of a bomb sitting in the middle of the city, capable of vaporizing miles and miles of living spurred him into action. Pushing past his every boundary, giving beyond of his best, he carried a live bomb on his back out of the city, as far as he could, supported by her weight defying quirk. He had been able to launch the bomb into space far away from the city, using every bit of his superhuman strength.
Even though the city was out of the range, the blast was massive. The shockwave had shaken up the entire town, the buildings rattled with its intensity.
But Ochako knew it. Just because the city had survived didn't confirm that he had too. She had been frantic, screaming, desperate to save him. They had raced to the obliterated site, only to find him in a mess of broken bones, bruises and blood. Barely tethering to the edge of life. Fortunately, they had been able to save him.
Now he was here, limbs still broken, but alive, slowly healing and she couldn't have been more grateful than that. Media, masses, all of them hailed him as their Hero. Their Savior . He was. Yes, definitely.
His altruism made him stronger. His innate will to save and help people constantly battled his body's limits in a race. And that made him the strongest. His strength beyond what anyone in the world had seen. His green eyes so full of life that even the terrified conscience would glow with happiness at the sight of them. It made him someone on par with All Might. Or maybe even greater.
But at the same time, his altruism was the one which reduced him to the most vulnerable state. When his body couldn't keep up with his need to protect others, it broke. It made him weaker. And it terrified her. To watch him transform himself to the same mess as All Might. The skeletal figure coughing up blood now and then haunted her dreams. And the slightest possibility to imagine him turning into that made her shiver with dread.
Contradiction? Most Probably.
“O-Ochako?”
A warm hand covered in bandages was placed on her thigh. And it took her a moment to process that he had called her by her name. And instantly, she blushed.
“Yes? If you're going to ask if I'm okay then yes, the answers is I am fine! So stop worrying!” She scolded him, trying to mask how pinker her cheeks were and how erratically her heart pounded in her ears.
“O-okay.”
But then a laughter bubbled up in her chest. After all, his altruism is the brightest feature that made him shine. That attracted people to him and that is what made her fall in love with this incredible person. The one who inspired him to be the best Hero she could be.
His altruism might be a contradiction but yes, she loves him. He's flawlessly perfect with all those overlapping, intertwining contradictions.
She floats a small piece of apple in his direction and his good hand catches it with slight difficulty. She leans over that instant because he's occupied and she cannot dare meet his eye. Not now. But she wants him to know that her love is not a contradiction.
It’s a real, undaunted truth even when he's at his strongest or even when he's at his weakest.
A brush of soft lips, a nose tickled by a bush of green hair. A forehead left tingling. A loud squeak is all and little of what follows her thoughts.
...
When I wrote it, I found it deep. And well, I liked the flow. And this ficlet actually reflects my thoughts and their resonation with Ochako's in the recent chapters. I really like the way things are going in manga. HAHA!
A cookie for your thoughts, please?
Stars 🌟 and Izuocha - Head canons
Actually, I was planning to write these head canons as fanfics but... didn't have enough time to. Maybe I will, sometime later but seriously I was too excited to contain myself from spilling them out and wanted to share these head canons with you all especially when I realised that @izuochaweek accepts head canons.
So, here are a few.
Ochako's knowledge about stars and constellations is encyclopaedic. Enough to rival Izuku's obsession with Heroes, but it's just that she is not very vocal or showy about it.
The first time Izuku comes to know about it, is when they are on a camping trip. The dinner was done and Ochako was pointing out constellations and sharing the stories of their origin. She knew it all! The distance of the closest star to the legends behind it and all other amazing stuff! Izuku was so boggled about it that Todoroki had to close his hanging jaw, lest a mosquito might fly in.
He is unable to sleep so leaves the tent, only to find Ochako standing in the cold of the night, still observing stars. He drapes a blanket over her and sits beside her asking why she was still out. Ochako replies that it is one of the best opportunities for her to view the starry sky as it never looks this beautiful in the city because of light pollution.
He realises that he's deeply and madly in love with her right then and there. When her smile and the brightness of her eyes is so blinding that he could barely focus on the stars she was pointing at.
When Eri is with Izuku for a sleepover, he takes her up to the roof and shares all the awesome facts and stories he remembers Ochako telling him. Eri is so happy that the next day she runs upto Ochako and babbles all about it. Together they squeal in delight and run off to Ochako's room to read more about the stargazing stuff and Izuku just watches them fondly.
He gives her a beautiful blue, pink and silver shooting star 🌠 pendant on her birthday. She always wears it. Even on hero missions, saying that it's her good luck charm and it reminds her to push past her limits to save people.
On the white day, he gets her a pretty bracelet with star designs. Before she knows it, her room is filled with starry stuff - ranging from mugs to the wall clock.
When they become heroes and she buys her own apartment, for the event of house warming, Izuku and Iida get her a telescope for startgazing!
When they finally become a couple, it becomes a routine for them to go to the roof to watch stars and constellations every now and then.
When Izuku proposes her for marriage, they are on a vacation to the outskirts of the city. It's night time and Izuku takes her to a clear field, giving the perfect night view of the sky, drops on one knee and holds out a ring. His face is burning red but the smile she gives him is worth million stars! Of course, she accepts!
And when their son is born, they name him 'Hoshi' - which means 'star' ⭐!
That's it. Well, for my babbling! HAHAHAHAH!
Behind the Scenes - Izuocha Fanfiction
This is my another submission for my izuochaweek but it is not based on any of the prompts. in fact it was supposed to a oneshot but I had so many ideas that it turned into a full fledged multichapter fanfiction. It will contain all of the prompts in later chapters definitely tough!
Behind the Scenes
Chapter 1
Mishaps turned into Scandals
For the life of him, he had never imagined that he would be the one to think about it, let alone suggest.
He doesn't even remember how they got stuck into this mess. Got tangled into the web of realities, expectations and untold feelings.
Or maybe he does?
It had all started that day...in that party organised by a few Hero agencies to support and appreciate the work of newbies in the Hero industry and to provide them some encouragement and popularity. And naturally, he was invited as well.
Routine - Izuocha fanfiction
A tiny piece written for make up Izuochaweek day 4! The prompt is domestic and this is all what I was able to cook in a mere span of few minutes. HHAHAHAHAHAHHAA!
...
She doesn't know how they fit into each other's lives anymore.
Friends? Partners? Caretakers?
No particular word seems to capture the complexity of their bond properly now. It intertwines, it overlaps. It's not definate.
It's two weeks after she settles in this new city as a rising apprentice of Ryukyuu when she meets him in an emergency meeting again after five years of not seeing eachother at all. Though their reunion is cut short with the urgency to the save the children that have been taken hostage. Of course, they succeed.
But he collapses. Oh, not because of any massive limb breaking injury. It is something much simply.
Exhaustion, the doctor says - lack of proper sleep and food.
She almost wishes to use her fists to knock some sense into his thick skull but she does not. Instead she nurses him back to health with deliberate care and yes, he's grateful to her. Although something in his eyes is different. He feels indebted.
And for some unfathomable reason, it cuts through her as if been the work of a sharp knife. It makes her realise the distance between them now. What the years of absence from each other's lives have done.
And she knows that she'll never have this the way it is.
So, she waits for a week before taking action. She sends him a text on her way after work. Dropping by a grocery store, she stocks up nutritional stuff and arrives at his doorstep. He's very surprised but welcoming. She had already known that it was his day off.
She cooks him a decent meal and he looks happy about her presence there. He babbles about how awesome her work has been and how how dangerous were the villains she had encountered. And about how many lives she's saved. He makes her feel like a Hero. Next week, she knocks on his door again. And the week after that too.
It's a routine that they have started. More like she did. Or maybe forced him to. But he never objects. He smiles even a lot more now. And that is why she does not stop this unnamed and weird ritual.
And one day at work, she receives a text from him.
What do we need to make bolognese pasta? You promised you'd cook it for me.
She's hardly able to hold back a smile as she types out a list of required ingredients. A box of fresh mochi along with the requested components greets her when she enters his kitchen later that evening.
One day, after her shift ends, she hears a commotion in the agency. She follows it, with curiosity and a little apprehension, only to find him surrounded by his fans here. His eyes are sparkling with a glint of their usual flame as he talks about how saving others is his passion - his reason of existence.
When their eyes lock for a moment, he gives her a smile as bright as the sun itself. The warmth that is offered to her feels incredibly precious and overwhelming. She has to look away lest she should get burnt basking in it's glory. He approaches her and tells her that he's here to take her home. And she slips beside him with nothing but a smile and a tint of pink on her cheeks.
Their schedules move involuntarily to accommodate the other's presence in their lives. They become a part of each other's routines. And it means a lot to her.
When it happens, it's a routinely movie night of theirs. A Hero movie. The characters are cool but she had lost her interest in that half hour later since it's beginning. The object of her attention was excitedly gushing about who were the actors and who was this movie based upon. But she was hardly listening.
She leaned in and brushed her lips on the side of his chin effectively silencing him. Her cheeks burn with embarrassment but she refuses to pull away. He looks at her with wide large eyes and a red face, trying to comprehend everything that took place.
They don't dare to disturb the scared silence though his eyes speak volumes.
Are you sure about this? About me?
She smiles and wills her eyes shine with every ounce of the love, warmth and devotion she feels for him.
More than anything else in the world.
...
This piece is very different from my usual style but I had been wanting to try something like this for a while. I know it's too small but still hope that you liked it!
