To me Frankenstein 2025 really felt like it was saying something with Frankensteins benefactor Henrich Harlander, who does not exist in the novel, being so dictatorial over Frankenstein's creation. Especially since his threat to the project ends with his own demise. It just felt pointed for a director to chose to depict the money behind the project in this way. Because of the way that del torro has spoken about refusing to use ai and cgi in the film. It just feels like a decision that a lot of studios would push back on. So it felt pointed that he chose to include it. Especially with the overall message of the film being the rejection of scientific novelty in place of care for your fellow man. And the theme of control being a repeated one in the movie from frankenstein over his monster to the ships captain over his crew.
