So, Shannon gave her St Christopher medallion to Mary when she died, and Mary presumably kept that medallion with her until she herself fell in battle. Yet Beatrice leaves it with the cruciform sword during the end credits. Which means... Nice.
Edit: unless it was one of the comm badge medallions? A symbolic cutting of ties even though one would expect the OCS to want to keep the halo-bearer in possible contact, just in case. Using Shannon's medallion as the bookend makes sense symbolically, given that we open with it, but both work. Perhaps someone with a high-def copy can spot if it's a little dude with a lantern, or a cross?
