Smoking Suit, England, ca. 1880.
Silk velvet with silk cord trim.
In the 1880s, a smoking suit was a luxurious, informal garment worn by men after formal dinner to protect their formal clothes from smoke and provide comfort. These suits, often featuring smoking jackets were made from velvet or silk, and featured a collar, cuffs, and a button closure. They were often decorated with intricate embroideries and came in a variety of colours, including deep reds, greens, and blues. They were designed for relaxation in private settings like a smoking room or gentlemen's club. They were frequently associated with rich and exotic fabrics. Smoking suits, jackets, and caps were designed to keep the smell of tobacco, said to be offensive, particularly to the ladies, off the gentleman’s person. As smoking became more widespread, so did the popularity of the smoking suit. It was soon adopted by men of all classes and became a symbol of luxury and sophistication.
A deleted song that was cut from “Cabin in the Sky” (1943) prior to release. This musical number in which Lena Horne sings a reprise of “Ain't It the Truth” (by Arlen and Harburg) while taking a bubble bath, was cut from “Cabin in the Sky” (1943) prior to release.
According to Horne speaking in the documentary That's Entertainment! III (1994), the consensus was thought to be that the showing of a Black woman singing in a bath went beyond the bounds of moral decency in 1943. A second non-bubble bath (and third overall) performance of this song by Louis Armstrong was also cut from the final print, resulting in Armstrong having no solo musical number in the film.
Armstrong's recording of “Ain't It the Truth” survives and is included on the later CD release of the film's original soundtrack. The song's authors and Lena Horne collaborated on their Broadway musical Jamaica starring Horne, in which they recycled the song as part of the score as a solo for her.
Normally Caine and Bubble show up at the end credits,
But when Caine got deleted, both of them disappear from the end credits.
That is some Doki Doki Literature Club shit right there.
RFK Jr's FDA removed its page warning against fake autism cures like industrial bleach and chelation therapy.
At his Senate confirmation hearing, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. praised the Trump administration's search for COVID treatments during the first term, which he said included "even chlorine dioxide." Chlorine dioxide is industrial bleach. The FDA has warned since 2010 that the substance, marketed under the friendly name "Miracle Mineral Solution," "causes serious and potentially life-threatening side effects." Some parents have been convinced to feed it to their autistic children.
Now the FDA page that warned families away from chlorine dioxide and other bogus autism treatments has vanished. The agency took down the consumer safety page in late 2025, and HHS told ProPublica it was just "routine clean up of dated content," noting it hadn't been updated since 2019. The page also warned against chelation therapy and hyperbaric oxygen chambers — treatments that have killed children. A five-year-old in Pennsylvania died after chelation in 2005, and another five-year-old in Michigan died in a hyperbaric chamber fire in 2025.
Samira Mohan’s deleted scenes
I don’t know if I’m the only one, but I would donate my kidneys if I could see those scenes they have edited out.
The fact that they existed to begin with, but post-production got rid of them is such a disrespectful act towards not only all of the fans, but Supriya too.
It’s like halfway through the season, they decided to erase her completely and honestly, it doesn’t do the show any good.
You can’t expect people to react well to a beloved character not returning for season 3 and on top of that, not giving said character a proper character arc and going even further and DELETING SCENES??? Crazy.
