What's your opinion on DeliveryCode? Also, if someone orders off your Amazon wishlist, don't they see your name and the town you live in? How do so many sw's use Amazon for wishlists if this is the case?
I’ve never used DeliveryCode. They are marketing more or less directly towards sex workers, so it seems less likely (but far from impossible) that they’ll pull some of the obnoxious shit that, say, PayPal does (like closing your account without notice and keeping your money). If you want to use them as a way of directly receiving funds, they take a huge hooker-tax-sized cut (because frankly, they know they have a somewhat captive market).
Lots of sex workers who primarily get their money online have written extensively about the pitfalls and tricks of using Amazon. I don’t keep up with it, because while I take some payment in the form of amazon giftcards (and some as PayPal payments), it’s such a small piece of my overall revenue stream that I just do what is convenient, and take the risk that I might lose that money at some point. The short version, in my understanding, is this: Amazon wishlists are not set up with the intention of being used as transactional hubs. If you avoid third party sellers, you can reduce the risk that Amazon will share your details with the purchaser, but not eliminate that risk entirely (some workers have PO boxes, or use friends’ addresses, etc as a workaround). If Amazon gets wind that you’re using their service to facilitate a sex work income, they may shut down your account (and you will probably lose, say, any gift card balance you have at that point).
If you want more details, then go look for sex workers who actually earn a significant portion of their living this way.
