ily harm reduction ily sharps disposal containers in public restrooms ily those safe drug use places to help you not od ily planned parenthood ily aftercare guides ily harm reduction
honestly the main reason i care about harm reduction is that i believe addicts are deserving of life. "what if they don't get clean?" they still deserve to live. "what if they don't contribute?" they still deserve to live. "what if they 'abuse' the system?" they still deserve to live.
addicts deserve to live by virtue of them being human. nothing will change that. nobody deserves to die of an overdose.
the fact that AA/NA, an abstinence-only, deeply religious, non evidence supported model based off writings from the 1930s, is seen as the first, only, and mandatory form of treatment for problematic/dangerous drug use is insane and ridiculous and i hate it and i hate how normalized and institutionalized AA is. people have to choose between AA or jail, AA or not having custody of their kids, AA or not getting welfare it's embarassing that the war on drugs and drug use has gone on this long with so much evidence against it
I know iām functionally a gay DARE officer at this point but I do in fact feel some sort of way about Cocaine being back in vogue. Surely I sound like a square + narc and Iāll concede ok do whatever you want, nobody can materially stop another person from using drugs if they really want to š¤·š» I donāt really care that itās hip to do party drugs, moreso I want to articulate a general level of caution and concern that I never see a sidecar of harm reduction and safe using practices along with the commonplace clips of people straight up snorting coke Iāve seen for ābrat summer!!!1!!ā
You 𫵠are not immune to ingesting fentanyl or any number of other additives. Do you think drugs at the gay club are different than the drugs people are taking under bridges and in gutters? I promise theyāre not! So if you want to use drugs and continue being alive, do your part to be safe. Protecting yourself protects others and your community.
Do not accept drugs from strangers. Test your drugs with fentanyl test strips. Carry narcan and know how to administer it. Never use alone. Have an exit strategy if youāre using drugs in a public space. Know the contact information for your local harm reduction groups, overdose emergency hotline, and if you need/want it, addiction treatment orgs. This is all the bare minimum for community care if you intend to be out in the world using drugs. Mainly I encourage you all to be buzzkills if it means you donāt have to die of an accidental overdose. Overdose is the leading cause of death for Americans under 40. I have a whole lot of social workers in my network and however bad you think the synthetic opioid crisis is, itās worse. The war stories Iāve heard from my people on the ground are⦠The shit of nightmares. Donāt let it be you or anybody you love.
If you live in the state of Georgia, DM me for a longer list of resources.

How to use fentanyl test strips
Call 311 to find out where to get Narcan in your community at no cost to you
With RFK JR defunding narcan access, Iād like to remind Americans this:
Donāt throw out your expired narcan.
If thatās all you have, use it. Itās better than nothing.
The expiration date was recently extended to have a shelf life from 2 to 3 years.
Studies have shown that the efficacy of narcan can last years if not decades after the expiration date.
Donāt throw out your expired narcan.
Obviously if you have new stuff, use that first but if itās all you got, use it.
The Transfeminist Womanism Archives
You can access it here.
This archive isn't complete, as no archive ever is, but I'm finally making it publicly accessible through Proton. I'm constantly taking suggestions on what to add to it or changes to make.
If you're an author of works in here and you'd like to be added to the tip list, you're having technical difficulties, or if you have suggestions for works to be added, please send me a DM and I'll make the changes or see if I can get a copy.
For fiction titles, I'm only accepting works from Black and/or transfemme authors to be added to the archives.
Works within these archives primarily focus on the following topics:
-Transfeminism
-Womanism ("Black Feminism")
-Disability Justice
-Restorative and Transformative Justice
-Ecofeminism
and subjects related to them.
Give this a reblog when you see it so more folks can get access to this and so I can get more recommendations to add to it lmfao
harm reduction saves lives.
it's a good thing when someone shoots up with a clean needle.
it's a good thing when someone carries Narcan, whether they use drugs themselves or not.
it's a good thing when someone switches from using laced drugs to clean drugs.
it's a good thing when someone starts using only one drug at a time.
it's a good thing when someone goes on medication assisted treatment like suboxone, methadone, or amphetamines.
it's a good thing when someone reduces their spending on substances, or the frequency of their drug use.
it's a good thing when someone gets regular tests for STIs.
it's a good thing when someone is using with friends instead of using alone.
people who use drugs don't have to be abstinent to take better care of ourselves. any positive change we make around our substance use should be encouraged and accepted, never stigmatized or dismissed!
