Gallifrey Lies Re-listen

If the flashback takes place a year before Romana graduated, it must be the around the same time as The Invasion of Time. Brax says the Chancellor is called Delox, making it take place shortly after when Borusa is President. For some reason, Delox would have been Chancellor for a very short period, before being replaced by Thalia. It's also interesting to note that Delox seems to be one of very few names used by more than one Time Lord to feature in the Whoniverse and I'm pretty sure the only one to be used by males and females. There's a female Delox teaching at the Academy in Divided Loyalties, which seems likely to be the same one mentioned in Lies, particularly as they are both by Gary Russell. However, the Delox in Appropriation and Mindbomb is almost certainly a different person. While I believe it's possible for a Time Lord to choose to change gender in regeneration, I think Gallifreyan culture would view it as taboo. Especially since the only Time Lord we know of who did change sex regenerating was the Corsair (I don't believe suicide causes a sex change, but that's just my opinion) and, unlike either Delox, (s)he didn't sound a very conventional Time Lord. It does make me wonder whether the Deloxes are related though, perhaps it's a family name passed down?

 Okay, sorry about the pointless analysing of Gallifreyan culture, back to the story.

This scene (and I love it) contributes a lot to my headcanon that Romana is the cleverest Time Lord on Gallifrey.

 No Darkel, Narvin's not xenophobic. He just hates everybody. (But he's not exactly as "far from it" as he claims.)

I wish they'd actually tell us how many renegade Time Lords there are. Darkel and Narvin may know but I don't.

 I love Narvin. I just thought I should mention that. In case anyone had forgotten.

And I could go on about almost every line in the scene with Darkel and Narvin bitching about Romana and each other and everything else. I'm having to restrain myself from typing it all up because so much love.

I love how Spirit, Pandora, Insurgency and Imperiatrix are all referred  to in Lies.
