Visions of Demacia
Scarlet vow One pledge to king and realm When shadows are found Arise gilded crown True justice abound
Demacian Engineer Corps
It was clear that Noxus had no qualms about utilising underhanded methods for gaining ground, much less winning a war. The devastation caused by the gaseous weapon made it apparent to the King that a new niche in the army had to be developed and Jarvan the Fourth was thus tasked to see to the creation of a new force to counter the use of biochemical weapons by an enemy task force.
The country wasted no time in establishing new technological imports from their close partner, Piltover, and also brought in scientists from the city to impart knowledge required of these task forces.
Taking a portion of soldiers from the infantry division and the bulk from volunteered enlistees, these troops underwent a 10 week course in technical knowledge and a grueling 15 week physical training phase, followed by 10 weeks of land combat training conducted by infantry cadres. The training package was much tougher compared to the average infantry standards solely because of the amount of focus and concentration required from an engineer out in the field. At the end of the 35 week training course, the troops were put to a final screening test before they were considered to be enlisted to the actual team of soldiers that would turn ops once the group was declared active. Those that failed the test were returned to the infantry division.
Consisting of two segments, one that specialised in explosive ordnance, the other chemical and biological defence, the task force was known jointly as the Demacian Engineer Corps; formed a year after the Ionian War with troops that are trained both in land warfare and counter chemical/ordnance warfare. The better lot of these troops were sent to the City of Progress to further enhance their capabilities as individuals and later return as cadres for the Engineer Corps. These cadres were also supported by the Demacian government in furthering their education in their field in order to stay relevant to the Engineer Corps.
Though this arm has not seen much actual activity in chemical defence since its creation, those part of this team truly believe in their purpose for they have seen the effects of chemical weapons on an army that was unprepared.
//Hello nice to see you again. What are you opinions/headcanons on the villages surrounding Demacia, especially those(if any) near the Noxian border?
[ There are a number of villages surrounding Demacia, some that even stretch out and near the borders of Noxus, but they are small and not wealthy - mostly they are home to farmers and lower class families who work in the fields.
This is where Noxian refugees tend to go, knowing it would be much harder to integrate into the Demacian society the closer they get to the Capital. Some of these villages are solely made up of said refugees. Although it is difficult for those who retreat to ones inhabited already by Demacians, they are fairly understanding and welcoming and not nearly as snobbish nor racist as those within the safety of the Royal City. ]
