it was a question luxanna could answer easily, since childhood she had dreamed of traveling far out from the slivery walls of demacia. to explore past what she knew & to expand her knowledge futher. lux was already a smart woman, declared a genius by her teachers & a prodigy with magic, but luxanna couldn’t help but desire more. after of which she would return home & to her duties. “ i would travel, i would love to learn more in the ways of magic,”

after a few moments of silence she spoke again. “ i would return home after of course.” she hummed, her stance relaxing a little, a small smile reaching her lips. the idea of the world beyond demacia and noxus exciting her. but alas, the war was bloody & lux would remain within the walls, at least until it was over.

“what would you do if you could? would you travel with me?”

Her eyes gleamed as she talked about things of the unknown, knowledge yet learnt beyond the lands of Demacia. Not many dared speak their mind freely before the Lighthshields, much less invite one of royal blood on an adventure.

Jarvan let out a slight chuckle at the thought of this carefree woman. The man himself had returned from his own travels and he knew every journey into the unknown would reap a different kind of reward.

“The world is truly a large and enriching place. There are things you will see that will make you question your reality.”

To her simple question, the answer was simple. Yet, he could not give a straightforward reply. He took a glance at the window for a moment before returning his attention to the lady in front of him. A wry smile would plaster over his face as he briefly considered the proposal.

“If I could? That’s not a something I could consider. You know that don’t you, Luxanna.”

     a confused expression fell upon the elementalist as she stood beside the monarch twiddling her staff between her hands. his statement perhaps took her by surprise, the confusion plastered across freckled features a dead give away. they had grown up together so why now would she stab him? she understood that the two had grown distant over the years. the time apart causing a growing rift between the two. 

     “ i do hope you are joking, your highness.” she coughed awkwardly a hand raising to rub the back of her neck. it was hard to say if he was really joking or not. lux sighed, shifting from foot to foot. thinking for a few moments before speaking again.

     “ you know i would never raise my blade against you, that goes against my families duty.”

Earthly hues stared deep into the distance, overlooking the main streets of Demacia. From their height, one would have a hard time figuring that the streets were bustling with activity. Within his confines, you could see the vast expanse of the city, how it stretched deep into the land - yet the four walls would always seem to keep him isolated from the world.

“So -”

He looked over his shoulder, eyes quickly shifting to follow her awkward figure as he turned away from the city that he loved so dearly.  The Prince stood tall, but his dull eyes betrayed him; after his recent return from the repulsion of Noxians at their borders - the fifth time in the past two months.

“If not for your duties, what would you do then?”

First hour: First recorded increase in temperature. Fever had begun to develop. Subject proceeded about his routine duties. 

No obvious signs and symptoms.

Described pain as “minor discomfort”.

No abnormalities in speech or conduct.

One and half hours: Subject indicates a “slight headache”.

Second hour: Subject visibly affected - still able to carry out his duties. Minor mobility impairment - subject required support to move from his desk to his bed; described sensation of “needles poking at him”.

Two and a half hours: Muscle function loss - subject unable to carry out simple routine activities.Subjected shifted to the laboratory.

Fourth Hour:

Respiratory systems begin to show reduced functionality - subject begun to draw heavy breaths.

Reduced vision functionality - subject unable to identify objects at distance.

Significant increase in body temperature. Subject demonstrated visible pain at the slightest touch.

The reviewing officer bore his full dress attire, sword sheathed to his side as he took graceful strides to the center of the stand. The Demacian crest on his left chest shone in the glare of the sun, his presence and demeanour overwhelming, the crowd in the audience soon quietened. Before him stood the 46th batch of commissioning officers, eight contingents of 452 cadets, comprised of several arms of the Demacian army.

Back straightened with vigor, he begun his speech, voice roaring through the square that spanned open fields.

“Good evening ladies and gentlemen. It is a great honour to be here for the first time today to witness your commissioning. After 62 weeks of arduous training, you have finally reached the place you have dreamt of every single night. The passing of each day has not been quick, some days go past with barely three hours of sleep, mission after mission you fight and you push. Other days pass by pushing your mind to the extreme, stretching it out and realising that it works in ways you could never have imagined. And today is the final day of your course. Today on this parade square, you will be deemed fit to be an officer.

This is not the pinnacle. This is but the start of your journey as leaders, as officers of this nation. I remember the day I stood on this parade square, my father, the reviewing officer then, donned the rank for me. I still remember the very words he left me on this square - ‘now the real fight begins.’

You have all climbed from the bottom of ranks, so you of all people should know that our rank does not represent leadership. It does not make us a leader. We command because we have been charged the authority and the responsibility that comes with that. We are called leaders because others follow. They follow because they trust us. They trust because of who we are, the values that we stand for. They trust us when we are able to put others before self. It is not only about what we do, but also what we do not show or do not say, how we do it and how we say it.

Know that this is your beginning. That as leaders, your decisions will affect the lives of your soldiers. Know that we owe it to our people to protect them. We owe it to our men to make sure that they win and come back to their families. Know that just like each and every one of you, there is a family waiting for these soldiers to come home.

And know that this war that we fight, gives us no second chances. There are no words of consolation for those that die on the battlefield. Know that you are the backbone of this nation. You are the people who will lead this nation, mould your soldiers into strong, cohesive teams.

[{ Does the Prince have any hobbies? As he grew up and took on several duties, did he have to leave any of them behind? What are (or were) his favourites? }]

As headcanoned, the prince used to play hockey for his team, and with his training in martial arts, his stamina and dexterity proved almost unrivaled on the playing field. Though he was the cornerstone of the team’s success, he declined the post of captain partly due to his commitments as Prince, as well as the fact that he wanted to remain part of the team as a just an ordinary player where the sport was just a medium for him to enjoy time off his duties. This was the first thing that he dropped once he graduated from school.

He knew that duties would pile, so he never really had much going for him before he had officially took on any, but as he currently stands he finds swordplay (or in his case, lance) a good way to unwind when work gets too overwhelming. There’s also running, and during his rebellious days as prince he would often head out into the surrounding forests to explore and enjoy the peace and quiet.

It was a given that he would be surprised - the machine that the prince had heard so much about showed its technological prowess before his very eyes. Much must have been put into piece of hextech to behave this way; for it to be able to recognise his face as the Prince of Demacia, no less.

And unlike his father who would probably rudely treat such a thing as an apparition, the prince was very much open to the advancement of technology in their era of war. Granted, if its creator meant for it to emulate another human being, it was only rightful and respectful for him to treat her as such. He rests a palm to his torso, back straightened as he returns the gesture with a slight bow as lips curl to greet Orianna with delight.

“Hello Orianna, I have some business your father today. Does he happen to be around this evening?”

✤ - Such a courteous manner was not expected as she was simply a machine, a being that held no unique importance to society and as well as, Corin Reveck. And yet, the Prince of Demacia returned her greeting with such respect and kindness. However,  blue optics widened slightly at his simple request, Orianna hesitated before retreating slightly. The Ball came to hover over her head,spinning on it’s horizontal axis as the robot dropped her gaze to the ground.

“Ah, Father.” She whispered silently, before pausing, “Orianna is afraid — that he might be in no condition to see anybody at the moment.”

The man, her ‘father’ - he had lost his sanity ever since the real Orianna had passed away. Even after creating her, the robot could do nothing to mend his heart, nothing at all. And yet, she still believed and she wanted to try her best to appease her creator. Tilting her head upwards, she parted her lips before proposing an alternative solution to such an issue.

“But if you would like, we could answer your questions.” The Ball circled around her as Orianna continued, “We have observed Father while he works. Surely, there will be some answers that we would be able to provide.”

“Though, if he does get better — Orianna will be sure to inform you immediately, Your Highness.”

The news caught the prince by surprise - the man he knew surely took care of himself beyond measure, for he placed development above all, falling sick was probably the only thing he constantly tried to avoid. This man, victim to an illness? A common cold perhaps, or perhaps it anything deeper; words chosen seemed to be used with caution, but he could not tell from the lack of emotion exuded from the techmuturgy before him.

And it had been years since they last met, the man in avid pursuit of the advancement of science and technology, a purpose that the prince himself had understood well - a man that he could well confide to in between pockets of time.

“ It is not such a pressing issue to warrant something like that. I just came by to visit since I was in the area. Is he down with a cold, perhaps?”

✤ - He who was adorned with the crown of Demacia, the son of it’s King, the heir to the it’s throne. Lifting her head upwards, Orianna’s gazed at the tall man with her aqua optics while holding her ball companion within her metallic arms. 

Remembering what she had read within the books that contained texts about the royal heritage of Demacia, itself. Letting go of Radieux ( The Ball ), she rested her palm upon the right side of her chassis, before lowering herself and bending forwards. A bow, a symbol of respect and integrity - that was what humans would do if they were to see a Prince…right ?

She kept her gaze downwards as Orianna’s lips parted, greeting Jarvan with a formal speech and quiet tone, the robot began, “Prince Lightshield, Orianna is honored to greet you here in Piltover. If I may inquire, what brings you here to our city ?”

It would clearly be painful to even shift, given the extent of the damage, much less try to walk. And it was clear - the amount of effort it took to try to get up, even with support by her side. She only finds herself halfway before legs give way and body falls back.

He empathises, having seen much worse on the battlefield, so he understood what she had to endure. It would have been rude - but regardless, an arm curls under her knees and digits curl about her neck as thighs lift his body from kneeling position.

“Pardon my rudeness.”

surprise wears neatly upon her features, tame yet so with bare part of  lips. but she – does not protest. she thinks – he hefts her with such ease ,  and chest is warmth & strength ‘gainst her shoulder. silently do cerulean hues watch his expression ; so noble ( so stern )  relief takes effort from muscles & she allows delicate form to collapse into  his capable arms. tho’ thin arms fall about his shoulder & thru discomfort from  wound – the tips of lips curl.  ❝  you are pardoned - for the time being.  ❞

For one, he keeps a stern face, for a prince who has been taught to maintain proper decorum when it comes to matters with the ladies. She relaxes into his cradle, slight groan leaves her pursed lips, clearly bearing with the pain.

Scent of her hair fills his senses, he takes careful strides to ensure the journey will not be a bumpy one. He keeps steady pace, unfazed by what most would be shaken by the beauty before him. Curiosity piques - in the first place, how did she get such a gnash?

Water

They meet each other in class. Sometimes their gazes meet when she enters, but they awkwardly look away. They pass each other in the hallway, but they never talk.

They used to be such close friends when they were young, but she’s changed as time passed. A lot had been taken away from her; now she’s quiet and aloof, and people pick on her, thinking she’s an easy target, but he doesn’t allow it. The clashing of lockers echo through the changing room when he confronts them, stern warning roars and bouts of thrashing continue until they understand never to try again.

She thinks she’s not good enough - so they’ve never spoken even though they’ve been in the same class for three years. She thinks she’s not good enough, but he still protects her from afar. She thinks she’s steeled herself enough; that she can graduate without having to admit these feelings for him and never have to see him again, but when he gurgles in the water, head sinking below, she throws all of that out of the window.

She hears his call for help and her heart pumps, knowing that he cannot swim; she knows the trauma that triggers when he sinks beneath the surface, the fear that weighs heavy on his body in the water. So she screams at the top of her lungs, shoving bystanders aside and she pushes through, adrenaline taking over.

She throws everything out of the window and takes a nosedive into the pool, pulling the drowning Jarvan out of the water. Their lips meet in anxiousness, arms pumping hard in bid to resuscitate him as he continued to lay limp on the floor.

“ALEX!”

She thinks she has forgotten, but she will never be able to.

✖ : Describe a way to make them uneasy or apprehensive. 

To answer both, the prince is not as confident about the country as he might seem to the people. He’s come back with fervor after his defeat, determined to change the country and strengthen its militia, but when it comes right back down to it, the prince always questions his own decisions. Granted, he’s matured and grown as a person and as a prince in his own right. He’s begun to see the picture, and while the King acknowledges the slight change in this boy, the prince always comes back to question whether his decisions were right. 

And the ministers will question his decisions, but for a prince who has grown to learn to put up a farce, it seldom works on him. If you questioned his decisions as an equal rather as a subordinate, that would make him feel uneasy.

The scent of apricot triggers memories that he thought he had put behind.

The scent reminds him of the sweet smelling shampoo that she used, of the times they would play hide and seek in their orchard, the tea that he liked to make on stormy weathers - it reminds him of memories that should have lasted a lifetime.
