It’s ok to make and demand space. It’s ok to take up all the space you need in any room, meeting, atmosphere, place . It’s ok to keep that space, to hold space for yourself that keeps you safe and whole. It’s ok to hold that same space for others and to make sure they are safe too. It’s ok to understand that boundaries create that space and are necessary, it’s ok. Don’t draw those lines in the sand. That makes it hard to keep your space. We are here to be ok, in order to do what we need to do to exist in all spaces, at all times and present at all tables. Our voices need to be heard and respected, even if the way we use them seems unruly or wild or unacceptable. It’s ok even when we are expected not to. Even when people ,the law, and sometimes the people closest to us feel like your space is not valid. Even when we are conditioned to feel that way, to shrink, to share the space that is and should have always been ours. Even when it is our turn. It’s ok, even then, to make and demand space. It’s ok.
