Tar Heels Climb to Final Four
Only one number one seed advanced to Semifinal Saturday and that team is the North Carolina Tar Heels following a 88-74 win over Notre Dame to win the East Region. All five UNC starters were in double figures led by Brice Johnson’s 25 points and 12 rebounds.
The Tar Heels quickly turned a brief Notre Dame one point lead into a double digit win in the second ten minutes of the second half. Demetrius Jackson scored 26 points to lead his Irish who go down in the Elite Eight for the second straight year.
Johnson and fellow senior Marcus Paige get to play at least another game when their Tar Heels will battle fellow ACC member, Syracuse, in one National Semifinal Saturday in Houston. The Final Four will tip shortly after 5 PM Central on TBS from NRG Stadium.
