Everyone is so pissed off about daniel emmett getting three chances. Clearly someone thought he deserved those chances. And its not your money the winner is getting. Cool it my dudes. I loved daniel and i hope he gets either a record deal or job from this show. Id buy an album. And i think many others would too. You have every right to disagree. But why you have to be mad?
Location: Starbucks, not far from the high school.
Time: Early afternoon, the day after they ran into each other there.
Plot: Derek and Emmett meet for coffee.
Derek walked slowly into the coffee shop, trying not to glance around. He'd spent all morning flopping back and forth on whether he was even going to come. To be honest, he wasn't sure what had made him decide to show up, and as he walked in he found himself hoping that Emmett would have forgotten. It wasn't like Derek had actually agreed to come. But he had spent all day unable to get the image of that infectious smile out of his head, he couldn't help wanting to see it again.
Emmett: had actually showed up a little early. He decided not to go to English at all and save himself the trouble of ditching out. He sat at the back of the starbucks with his large white mocha and a book out. He was re-reading Lord of the Rings: Return of the King for the thousandth time. He really did love the books and the movies. When Derek walked in though, he glanced up just to see who it was. A smile spread across his face as he waved to the other man. "Over here." He called lightly across the shop. Closing his book, Emmett just motioned for Derek to come and sit beside him. He was a bit surprised that Derek had actually showed up. Happily surprised.
Derek spotted Emmett when he waved and found himself hesitating. What was he doing here anyway? What exactly was the point of meeting this guy again? He suppressed a sigh and walked over to Emmett's table, deciding that since he'd managed to show up, he may as well sit and talk to the crow. "Hey," he grunted as he sat down. He glanced up at Emmett's face and was met by that smile again, the one that made him want to do anything to keep it there. And suddenly he was glad he'd come. He tried to relax.
Emmett: sat up as Derek walked over to him. His greeting sounded just as grumpy as ever but Emmett had expected it now. He was just happy that Derek was here. He would not have been at all surprised if the werewolf had stayed back. Well, he didn't so that just made the crow’s day even better. "How’s your morning been?" Emmett asked as he slipped his book back down into his bag. He did hope that no one ever bothered Derek. After what happened to his family a few years back. Man that was terrible. It was no wonder the guy was always angry. Emmett would be angry to if everyone he loved... well this wasn't really the time or the best to think about that. "I had a hell of a morning myself." The crow stated as he smiled up at Derek once he was sat down.
Derek shrugged at Emmett's question. "Fine," he said simply, but the tone of his voice was already a little less rough. He watched Emmett closely, enjoying his smile, even though he wasn't returning it. "What happened?" he asked. He was genuinely curious, which surprised him.
Emmett: placed his coffee down and leaded forward a bit so he could speak in a lower voice. One that only Derek could hear. "Alarm didn't go off so I was late to class. Decide to fly there, but I am on the other side of town and its way easier to just fly over the forest." He starts off his story. "So I am just going a long and some stupid kid shot a pleat gun at me. Nice, right?" He asks before lifting his arm and pulling his sleeve back so show off a really bad bruise on his arm. It was closer to his elbow on the underside. "Hit me right in the wing. It hurts like a bitch." Emmett went on before rolling his sleeve down again.
Derek raised an eyebrow at Emmett's bruise. "You don't heal?" he questioned. He supposed he'd never met a werecrow before, but he hadn't thought about how different their powers would be from his own. "If I got hit like that it would be gone in a minute." He looked back at Emmett's face, and found himself unreasonably pissed off at whatever idiot had shot the crow.
Emmett: shook his head at Derek's question. He healed a little quicker than normal, but nothing like what Derek was talking about. "No, as far as I can tell the only thing that really changed for me was that I see and hear better." He tapped beside his eyes and his ears as he spoke. "Other than that I just... well I change into a crow and that’s awesome." He shrugged and saw the anger in Derek's face. Shrugging his shoulders, Emmett just smiled. "I've had worse big boy. Wait till hunting season comes around." Emmett shuttered at the thought.
Derek "Were you born a crow?" he asked, curious. "Or were you... bit? Pecked? How the hell does that even work with you?" He didn't think turning into a small defenseless bird sounded that great, but he had to admit flying would be cool. His scowl deepened when Emmett mentioned hunting season. He didn't like the idea of Emmett getting shot at. "Maybe you should think about staying out of the woods."
Emmett: laughed lightly as Derek asked about being pecked into being a werecrow. To be completely honest, Emmett wasn't completely sure how it had happened either. He had always figured it was the scratches that turned him. But he supposed it could have been the peck as well. Who knows? "I got attacked when I was seven. I think it was the scratches that changed me..." He wondered aloud before he watched Derek's face frown deeper. He didn't know that was possible but he also didn't like the look of it. "I do my best. Honest to god, but sometimes I can't avoid it." He admitted. He needed to fly some times and the forest was perfect for that...
Derek sat back, still watching Emmett. "Seven? That's pretty young. I don't know about crows, but wolves generally go for teenagers. Little kids don't have enough self-control." Then he shrugged. "I guess it's different for you though. Does the moon even affect you?" He nodded at Emmett's last statement, unhappy but understanding. "I know how that can be. Trust me, I've been shot my fair share."
Emmett: winced lightly as Derek spoke about him being really young when he was first changed. Really young. To be fair he didn't think that the bird that changed him had meant to. "The moon? It just sort of makes me a bit itchy. Like in my human from. I really just want to fly at night." He admitted before sighing. It was nice to have someone to talk to about this. Someone who at least sort of understood what he was going through. It was good. Derek was good. "I know. I've actually seen you get shot before while flying around. Those Argents man..." He muttered. "I am just happy they don't know about me."
Derek nodded. "That must be nice. New werewolves are always irrational and too easily provoked at the best of times, but they're totally out of control during the full moon." He shrugged. "The moon doesn't bother me too much anymore, but I remember what it was like the first few months after my first shift." He looked up at Emmett. "I was born," he offered in explanation. "As a werewolf, I mean." He rolled his eyes at the mention of the Argents. "Don't get me started," he muttered darkly.
Emmett: made a mental note to avoid all freshly changed werewolves. He would probably make a tasty snack for one, so yeah, it was best that he avoid them all together. Derek seemed very under control though, so that was good. "Huh. I didn't realize you could be born one." Emmett thought aloud as he tapped his chin lightly and gave a small shrug. He couldn't image what it must have been like to grow up as a wolf or a crow or anything other than human. Must have been hard. "Honest to god, I wanted to help you out but I didn't know how. I am a crow..." He explained as Derek muttered about the argents. He felt bad but what could he have done?
Derek blinked at Emmett, surprised he wouldn't know something like that. But then, if he had been turned accidentally, probably no one had ever really explained to him how these things worked. "It might be different for crows," he said with a shrug. "But with wolves, if the parents are wolves, so are the kids." He glanced away, giving another small shrug. "Honestly, I think being born is better than being turned. Nothing to get used to. It's just the way things were." He looked back up at Emmett. "Nothing you could have done," he said blankly. "And I'm fine. It was just a bullet. Nothing permanent."
Emmett: Without thinking about it, reached out and placed his hand over Derek's. His thumb ran over the others knuckles a few times in the first contact they had made. He did this as just a way to comfort the other when he shrugged off being shot. That must have been terrifying no matter how many times it had happened. Hell, the BB gun was scary enough but real bullets were- He could scream just thinking about it. The pain would be bad too. "Just a bullet?" He asked raising an eye brow at the other. "Must have hurt though. I'll be sure to peck some eyes out or something next time I see that." Emmett promised as he gave Derek a soft, sort of sad, smile.
Derek tensed when Emmett reached out to him, looking down to Emmett hand and then back up, but he didn't pull away. He wasn't totally sure how to react. But he could see the concern in Emmett's eyes, and he could tell it was genuine. Slowly, he looked back down at their hands, and forced his muscles to relax. He was only touching him, it wasn't the worst thing that could have happened. So he decided to allow it. "It hurts," he acknowledged softly. "Every time. But I heal. Wolves learn to deal with the pain. There are worse things than bullets." He spoke casually. He'd been shot more than once, and he knew he was likely to get shot again.
Emmett: didn't move his hand either. He didn't want to and to be honest he Derek was really freaking warm. It was pretty chilly outside today and since he had walked over, his hands were rather cold still. So it was nice to feel that warmth against his own chilled skin. Hearing Derek's words, Emmett frowned. He didn't want Derek to get shot. He didn't like the idea of the other bleeding or being in any sort of pain. That made him mentally cringe and want to change the subject in a bad away. "I am sure it does..." Emmett murmured before thinking of something else to talk about. "So how old are you anyways now, Derek?" He asked as he kept his hand on the others. Emmett's free hand brought his coffee up to his lips for a sip.
Derek watched Emmett's expression darken, and he regretted talking about getting shot. He'd gotten too comfortable and forgotten to censor himself. He didn't usually let things like that slip to non-werewolves. He shook his head and looked back down at Emmett's hand still on his. It was very cool, and it felt kind of nice. "I'm twenty-four," he said, looking up at Emmett, glad of the change of subject. "You're still in high school, right?"
Emmett: nodded his head. So Derek wasn't /that/ much older than he was... Okay maybe a bit but stranger things had happened. Beside he had been told that he had an old soul... well at least that's what his mom said. Besides, who really cared about age now a days? He was nearly eighteen after all. Yeah... he had been held back a year. School wasn't his best. "Yup. Nearly done. I am turned eighteen this year. So, I mean, almost out of there." Emmett shrugged as he spoke. It was good to be having just a normal chat with someone.
Derek nodded. He didn't really care how young Emmett was. It didn't change the way he'd been treating him. He felt the corners of his mouth turning up as he replied. "I was so happy to get out of that place," he said dryly.
Emmett: Glanced down at his phone and sighed. Damn it. Why did time go so fast when you were having a good conversation. It wasn't fair. He sighed and put his coffee down. "Speaking of... I have class soon." He muttered not wanting to leave any time soon. Why couldn't he just sit and spend the day with chatting with Derek. That sounded so much better then math class.
Derek raised an eyebrow. "Shouldn't you be in school now?" He hadn't thought about it before. And he didn't want to stop talking to Emmett. It was relaxing.
Emmett: "Well yeah, but don't focus on that." Emmett chuckled as he moved his hand to hold Derek's lightly. He didn't make any move to leave the shop either. Not for a moment but he knew he had to go. His dad was already going to kill him for missing all of English. "I have to go now... You wanna walk me to school? Or drive? A ride would be great."
Derek watched their hands as Emmett moved to hold his, and he let it happen. He liked hearing Emmett laugh like that. It made him smile, just a little. "Um," he looked up at Emmett's question, but seeing that look on his face, that half-grin, Derek found himself unwilling to say no. "Yeah, come on. I'll give you a ride."
Emmett: patted Derek's hand as he said he would give him a ride. Awesome now he could actually see the inside of Derek's amazing car and he wouldn’t have to walk back to school. Could the day get any better? Nope. It couldn't. Standing up, Emmett tossed out his coffee. "Thanks Derek. You don't have to. It’s not far." Emmett said but he was out the door and walking toward the black stunning car already.
Derek pulled his hand away from Emmett's with a little bit of reluctance as he stood up. The touch had felt nice. Not that he was prepared to admit that. He shook his head as he headed to his car. "I know, I spent four years of my life there, too, remember?" He glanced back at Emmett, enjoying the way he bounced a little in excitement as he stared at the car. "Um," he said hesitantly. He wanted to see Emmett again. He wanted to talk to him. It was so calming, just talking like that. "Wanna skip class again sometime?"
Emmett: turned around and walked backwards through the parking lot. He smiled brightly at Derek's question. He was, once again, surprised but pleased to hear it. SO he wasn't just irritating the crap out of the werewolf he actually liked Emmett as well. Good to know. Giving the other a nod. "I would love to skip class again." He assured the other. "Same time. I need my coffee fix so that works best for me." He went on as he turned back around and looked forward to seeing Derek again tomorrow.
I ship Bay and Emmett so hard!!!!!!!!! Come one Daphne is nice for Emmett... but Emmett doesn't deserve nice! He deserves Bay! Bay is adventurous and she brings out something in Emmet that no one else does! He and Daphne would just be cute together. bay and Emmett are real love! Anger, and passion and ugh!!!! Yesss!!!!
It's so obvious that they belong together, it's ridiculous.
So you can imagine how surprised I was when I checked the tag on here for the first time about 5 seconds ago, only to find out that practically EVERYBODY AND THEIR MOTHER'S CAT SHIPS BAY AND EMMETT.
I agree that I don't think Emmett and Daphne will ever date. There's no residual feelings on either side anymore, and Emmett is clearly in love with Bay. Plus, Lizzy Weiss loves Bay and Emmett and wants to challenge them to prove they can make it through anything, so even if Daphne and Emmett DID date, it wouldn't last long. I still am a Bemmett shipper (though angry at Emmett) and want them to work it out :)
I can't think of anything else that Lizzy can put them through, once they get through this, and I know they will. In the Bay & Emmett Forever Promo that ABC Family released it says, 'This Fall, a choice must be made', meaning that Bay still has very strong feelings for him and it's just a matter of whether or not she feels like she can trust him at this point.
