3D renders of the 'average' male Northern Wandering Siderian ("mu") demo model v2 - shortened as Mu Demo v2. For those who don't know it yet: Siderians are horse-sized Oriental cat based felines. Here I've shown an average northerner.

I've started learning 3D more seriously in March 2022 and I've finally come to these realistic scenes. I've yet to take it to an advanced level and there is still a lot to learn. You can read about my whole Blender journey on DeviantArt.

Light test renders.

Picking up the work with my Siderian model again after I've finally completed the environments course by CG Boost.

This is still demo v2 and I'm going to experiment with light and backgrounds in the coming time before I'm going to make the third, demo model with a skeleton and muscle system.

I'm still not satisfied with how the fur came out (and I foolishly decided to pick one of the most difficult fur styles to practice with - the one of my character Stállo) and there are some problems with the rig, but hey...this is just my second complete model ever, so I consider it part of the learning process.

Now I'm just playing around with various render- and light settings as well as backgrounds, but my 7-years old (gaming) laptop is struggling and my GPU runs out of vRAM so I've to render this on CPU and it takes 20 min for a reasonable quality render (the one on the left).

Finally I finished the skin texture and rigging of 'The average Siderian Demo v2'. Blender is a bit suboptimal regarding texture painting but I'm happy with how the skin and mouth details came out.

There are still some imperfections but I will leave that to v3. I'm quite pleased with the result of my 2nd 3D model ever.

The next step is giving him fur.

I've made a beginning with giving him some skin texture and I've made a walk cycle again, to refresh some basic animation.

I've also spent quite some time learning how to make some of his muscles and stuff jiggle. Also if you take a close look at his fingers and toes, you see them jiggle too as the paw lands on the ground. I will show this from another angle in another render.

I'm still going to play around with some facial expressions and maybe a small yawning / slow-blink animation but I first have to improve the skin texture. The close up doesn't look realistic just yet.

The last few months (maybe more than just a few), I've spent on retopologizing the sculpture (see https://www.tumblr.com/reignofsiderians/738040995179085824/wip-of-my-new-3d-project-statistical-average?source=share ) and then rigging.

The previous model had only a basic rig while this model has a much more advanced rig with finger and claw controllers. I've also made a custom detailed face rig, in addition to some shapekeys. I also managed to get the flank-skin and chest to deform well in the more extreme positions.
