So I'm kind of relieved kind of sad, but I think i have to split the Demon book into three books. This "first" act is already 109K words and I'm maybe halfway through wrapping it up. There's just so much to establish and so many different competing interests to introduce since this story takes place in a country that is in the middle of a very violent and destabilized continent. And there are so many interpersonal dynamics I want to linger on and I don't want this big to be longer than Les Miserables. If I split it into three books, I can take my time and properly develop worldbuilding, relationships, and politics (especially on the antagonist's side). AND if I split it into three books then I'm 50% done with book one, haha
Must I come up with the plots for my books? Can they not spring fully formed into being like Athena from the head of Zeus so I can finally write?
I put the demon book on hold bc it just wasn’t feeling right & I think I’m almost ready to poke it again & this time treat it more like a long poem then an actual novel & by that I mean focus on the absence of things and the structure of the prose. Whereas Say I Slew Them Not (which is a podcast available on all podcast hosting platforms) was about the purposeful distortion of information the Demon book is about the complete and purposeful erasure of information and the replacement of truth with lies that become “truth” and how to recover what can never be found except in fragments preserved by survivors and the high chance of abuse of the fragments and the survivors by outsiders who want to “preserve” the truth but only if it’s to their benefit/it’s not *theirs* to preserve/they were part of the erasure in the first place & want to “preserve” the truth to fit within the lies they’ve codified into reality.
Of course when Rashid was handed the opportunity to ask the Demon Monarch anything he wanted, his mind went completely blank and he couldn’t even remember his own name, let alone any important question that could save his life.
Working on the Demon book and Rashid is me.
Rezan bit into the now still heart and stained his mouth with blood as Danijela drank the blood from her bowl. As they ate, they licked blood from each other’s skin and mouths and they placed pieces of heart in their mouths and fed each other in a playful manner. Yeremi hastily tore his part of the heart into pieces as he eat it, spraying blood everywhere and dripping from his beard. Turar was clearly restraining himself as he bit his heart in two and daintily drinking blood from the bowl.

Prompt: Tell me something about your favorite character you write.
I'm working on the Demon book right now and one of my favorite characters is Emanoil a Deaf, trans doctor who is adopted by Demons and becomes their ambassador and physician. He's a sweetie who believes in the best of people, despite all evidence to the contrary.
Tagging: whoever wants to play!
