Princess Cabiria and Castus are characters from our campaigns in the Theomachy setting! Here is their story:

The Story of Princess Cabiria Artia of Kalas and Castus Liber

As the youngest daughter of the Emperor of Moredus, Princess Cabiria Artia had everything she wished for except for her freedom. The night Princess Cabiria Artia was born, the Emperor decreed her engagement to Lord Norbanus Cimber, the most powerful wizard in the empire.

Lord Norbanus was as powerful as he was evil. Deep into his imposing castle, dark experiments took place and slaves toiled in anguish as the dark wizard sought to unlock the secrets of eternal life. One of those slaves was Castus, a half-demon the dark wizard had collected off the streets of Vandis, the imperial capital, for his rare blood.

Seeking a chance to escape, Castus spied on Lord Norbanus and copied his magic in secret. The moment he lay his eyes on Princess Cabiria during one of her arranged meetings with Lord Norbanus, he fell madly in love with her. Castus knew the evil of Lord Norbanus as much as the Emperor, and he couldn’t let the dark wizard harm her.

Castus followed Princess Cabiria in secret and confessed his love for her under the full moon, warning her about lord Norbanus. Princess Cabiria ran away scared, her heart beating faster and stronger than ever before. She didn’t tell anyone about her meeting with the peculiar half-demon, and she could not get him out of her head or her heart since. She eagerly arranged another meeting with Lord Norbanus the next month so she could see Castus again under the full moon.

Their forbidden love bloomed in the moonlight. Princess Cabiria promised Castus love eternal, and Castus vowed to end Lord Norbanus and claim Princess Cabiria as his wife. A month before the princess’s arranged marriage to Lord Norbanus, Castus struck him down during a dark ritual, claiming his freedom and the surname “Liber”.

Every full moon since then, Princess Cabiria leaves the imperial palace, pretending to mourn Lord Norbanus’s death. Instead, she meets her forbidden lover, Castus, to plot how to leave Vandis together and escape the Emperor’s wrath.

Unbeknownst to them though, Lord Norbanus’s ritual had succeeded, and the dark wizard was not truly dead…

About the Theomachy setting:

In Theomachy, vengeful gods fight each other for ultimate control of the universe, while the mortals of Naam struggle for power on a dying world. Divine magic is a force without expressed will that the warring gods hoard and wield against each other, threatening to undo the entire world. Clerics and paladins are either devout followers of the warring gods or theomachists. Theomachists fight against the gods, liberating divine magic and using it against them.

Character Name: Xerribex, Half-Demon Planar Sentinel Ranger

Xerribex is powerful ranger who walks the fine line between dimensions, protecting her fiery home and all that is precious to her.

She was born in Maleficum, the dimension of demonic magic. Her mother, a powerful demon of death, destined her to be a hellish warrior against the warring gods of Naam.

At first, Xerribex was a ruthless champion of Maleficum, punishing the agents of the warring gods as well as innocent mortals indiscriminately.

However, after meeting Sir Delric Thorson, a theomachist paladin who had been enslaved in Maleficum, she began to wonder about morality. She claimed Sir Delric Thorson as her personal slave, seeking to prove him naïve. But during their travels together, Sir Thorson was able to show her the value of mortal life, and she realized that the true threat to Pandemonium, and the entire creation, is the mad war between the gods of Naam.

Now, Xerribex uses her unique heritage to freely travel between demonic dimensions and fight the warring gods who threaten to undo creation itself in their mad bid for supremacy.
