Time Waits For No Man
Howard found that things were the same, even as the years rolled passed. 2262 was nothing short of a disappointment. Perhaps it was Howard's timelessness. Maybe it was the deaths on his hands finally taking toll.
The longer Howard waited for some semblance of sensation to come back to him, the more inhuman he felt. He wasn't human. He wasn't even supposed to have lived this long. Yet here he was, drinking in a bar in California, just spending money like it was water.
Liquid gold.
That's what they said about his inventions. He couldn't ever agree with them. All he'd worked for. It was meaningless. Relatively famous still, Howard found himself brushing off more flies than people. All of them wanting to suckle at the teat of greatness.
The more he drank though, the easier it would get for them. Stephen was in another dimension doing one thing or another. Estranged indeed. Howard seemed bored and in desperate need of a pick me up.
