We're Queer. Don't Fuck With Us.
Rights Now! ACT UP
May 06, 1993— Hundreds rallied in Augusta, Maine, to protest Governor “Jock” McKernan’s veto of the state queer-inclusive non-discrimination bill. It had already passed in the Maine House and Senate. Signs dotted the Capitol steps and a handful of protestors went to the Blaine House front door; others blocked traffic on State Street. One arrest was made. 📷: Protesters and signs dot the capitol steps. In the foreground Erica Rand, Bee (now Jed) Bell, and one other hold a sign that reads: "We're queer. Don't Fuck with us. Rights Now! ACT UP." Signs in the background read: "We shall be free" and "McKernan does discriminate"

Endre Tót: Gladness Demonstration, Amsterdam, 1979
Yesterday around 20 pm I finally arrived in Turku, the former capital city of Finland. The river was frozen. This morning after I bumped into a peaceful demontration. I still don’t know what it was for, but I will go deeper. (The Trump caricature could be a hint). Last thing that I have spotted is the architecture of buildings, which is really soviet.
Hundreds gathered in Rib Mountain today as part of the nationwide “No Kings” demonstrations, joining rallies across Wisconsin calling for unity, democracy and peaceful civic engagement.
Aku menyukai System of a Down sejak SMP, sekitar 2000-an akhir.
“Pushing little children, with their fully automatics…”
Biasanya kuputar Deer Dance pelan-pelan, menunggu beliau tertidur. Tapi pernah sekali beliau tiba-tiba terbangun, kaget mendengar riff gitar yang menggila.
“Lagu opo to, Le?” tanyanya sambil mengernyit.
Aku cuma bisa nyengir, lalu menjawab, “Nggeh Bu, biar mboten ngantuk.”
Beliau mendengus, lalu tidur lagi. Aku menahan ketawa kecil di balik setir, sambil pelan-pelan menurunkan volume.
Setelah Deer Dance, kepalaku otomatis pindah ke The Strokes – New York City Cops. Liriknya simpel, “They ain’t too smart.”
Dan yang tersisa setelah semua kebisingan itu hanyalah “Is This It?”.
“Can’t you see I’m trying? I don’t even like it…”
Lirik lain berbunyi, “Can’t you see I’m waiting? I don’t think I’ll make it.”
Deer Dance untuk teriak, New York City Cops untuk ejek, dan Is This It untuk diam.
A demonstration of early 20th century nose-picking (note the discreet use of ink pen).
