Part 7 in The Demon Weapons Winchester.
You were smiling with John, until you realized where you were heading. You stopped dead before you could even get to the gate. “Why are we here?” You were looking up at the iron wrought words ‘Hook Cemetery’. “I thought we were going to see Sam and Dean. John, why are we here.”
He stopped and turned back, taking in the look on your face. “Sweetheart, are you okay?”
“I- I can’t go in there..” His brow furrowed. “I haven’t gone in since..”
“Since your parents were buried.” He realized and you nodded. You had been pretty young still, when they died, and terrified of the cemetery. You had gone in for the burial, and every time you tried to visit, you’d freeze up at the gate. “That’s where Sam and Dean are, sweetheart.” Your eyes went from his, to beyond the iron arch.
“You said they were training.”
“They are. Come on, I’m with you, you won’t be alone. I promise.” Your eyes went to his again, and there was a moment of silence before you took a step forward. He gave you a soft smile and fell in step beside you.
“Please don’t leave me alone in there..”
“Wouldn’t dream of it.” He put an arm around your shoulder and lead you through, along a small dirt path.
You could hear fighting in the distance, and then it came into view. Broken tombstones, massive holes in the ground. Dean was panting, his body hunched from exhaustion but he still managed to hold a defensive stance. He was covered with sweat, and had a bit of blood. “John..” You gasped at the sight of him.
“They need to figure it out, sweetheart.” He held you back for the moment.
“Ready Sammy?” And then they were charging, which was odd for someone to do using a gun weapon. Their shots were all dodged with ease. Dean was slowing down, and so was Sam. You watched them switch a few times, just to end up with Dean hunched and panting again, keeping his eyes on the much larger man before him.
“Sid is the best teacher the academy has.” John reminded you. “Even now, even like this. He’s been doing remedial lessons for Lord Death, so I called in a favor. Asked him to help the boys cooperate a bit better. Must be working, they aren’t dead yet.” He chuckled, but the smile fell when you shot him a glare.
“What’s wrong?” Sid cocked his head a little. “Why aren’t you working together?” The large man stood still, his own tombstone tucked under his arm and aimed at the boys. “You have to establish a connection between the souls-”
“You’re giving advice to the enemy?” Dean cut him off.
“I’ve always been an enthusiastic educator. That’s the kind of man I was.” Sid shifted his stance. “And now, I’ll teach you how to die.” He jumped up into the air, his tombstone moving above his head with such ease that you gasped, and before you could yell out a warning, it was too late. “Living End!”
With those words, the tombstone came crashing down with brutal force, wind and dirt flew into your face blowing your hair back. “Dean!” You started to run, but you still couldn’t see him through the dust cloud.
“No wonder you two can’t keep a meister.” You could hear the zombie teacher’s deep chuckle.
You skidded to a stop next to Sam, who was looking down at his brother. Dean lay on the ground, chest heaving and blood running down his head. “They have a meister.. If they want me.” You answered quietly.
“What’s that, little girl?”
“I said they have a meister!” You screamed turning towards him.
“Of course we want you.” Sam answered, helping Dean sit up.
“No one else could handle us.” Dean winced, hand going to his forehead.
“Ding Dong! Dong Ding!” A sick smirk curled it’s way over his sickly dead face. “Looks like class is back in session.”
“Dean, can you fight?” You were still glaring at the zombie teacher who, again, tucked his own tombstone under his arm and aimed it at the Winchester boys behind you.
“I’d die fighting for you.” He muttered, grabbing his brothers hand and getting pulled up.
“You better not die today.” You warned him. “Or I’ll be pissed.”
“How do we kill a dead man?” Sam asked you. “How’d he even get like this?”
“Dr Stein.” Dean answered. “Guys a nutjob. He’ll cut you open before you even realize he’s around.”
“We don’t kill him. We slow him down and survive long enough to subdue him.”
“Been trying that, sweetheart. Ain’t working out so well.”
“But we didn’t have our meister, Dean.” Sam pointed out.
“And you two idiots didn’t even fully adjust your souls wavelengths to each other.”
“We’ve never had to..” Dean glanced to his brother. “We’re family, we’re compatible-”
“Not enough to do serious damage, not with you fighting it. That’s why it’s so hard to work with you, Dean. You push away, hard to adjust to.” You turned to him. “Let us in. Just try, for me.” Dean swallowed and nodded. “Ready Sam?” Sam gave you a nod. “Alright, let’s do this.”
Both brothers quickly transformed and you gripped them tight. “We really trying this?” Dean asked, weary.
“What do we have to lose.” Sam answered.
“Alright boys, let hit this asshole with everything we’ve got.”
“I was never the kind of man to hold back!” Sid yelled, charging.
“Soul Resonance!” As you yelled it, you felt Sam open up immediately, and the sparks of your soul resonating with his began. Dean, was more reluctant. You were almost fully resonating with Sam when he finally opened up, and it hit you like a ton of bricks. You could hear screaming, your screaming, the sheer force of it all too much to bear.
John froze. “They’re really doing it…” He muttered, and watched as his sons began to transform. He expected canons, most gun types transformed to canons. But what he saw when the brilliant gold began to die down had him running. “Sid! Get out of the way!” His arms flailed, trying to warn the zombie. “She won’t be able to control it!”
Sam’s once Taurus model frame changed completely. And while Dean had always been a Colt, he had changed as well, to a band new form. A form long lost somewhere down the Winchester line that no one expected to ever see again.
Sid skidded to a stop as John screamed. Before you could react, before you could even truly see their new form, they were powering up, and you couldn’t stop them. Before you could even think to, they fired a shot so powerful that you were sent flying back, landing harshly against a tombstone and slumping to the ground, both Winchesters no longer in your hands, not that you were conscious to notice.
Sid scrambled up the side of a massive hole where he had previously stood, while John ran back towards you once he saw the zombie teacher still moving. “Stein would like to get his hands on those boys of yours, John. Once he hears what they can do.”
“Stein will have to get through me.” He growled as he searched for where his sons had landed.
Your eyes slowly began to open, all you could hear was arguing. “Lord Death-”
“I understand your concern, John. But if what you and Sid say is correct, they need Dr Stein to help them until they get better control.”
“Dean, she’s awake.” Sam came into view, and then so did Dean on the other side.
“What happened?” You tried to sit up, only to fall back again with a groan.
“I’m sorry.” Dean said quietly. “It’s my fault..”
“It’s no one’s fault.” You heard Lord Death tell them. “Help her sit up. John, I will leave you to tell them while I get a hold of Stein.” John nodded, and Lord Death was no longer visible in the large mirror.
“Stein?” Sam and Dean each took a hand, Dean’s hand going to your lower back as they helped you sit. “Where are we?” You looked around confused.
“Dad’s.” Sam said softly.
“Weren’t sure how long you’d be out.” Dean gave you a smile.
John sighed. “The three of you don’t resonate souls again, until Dr Stein tells you to, do you understand?”
“Bu-”
“No buts.” John shook his head at you. “I don’t care what kind of situation you’re in, you do not do it unless he tells you.”
“John, what happened?”
“The Colt Patterson .36.” John answered softly. “Nothing will survive it. And you’ve got two of em.”
