Last month I had the privilege to practice next to this amazing lady @cittastha during #denakingsberg intensive in Australia. I couldn’t help to be at first impressed by her practice and then terrible inspired by her will power to not let any physical restriction deter her. Looking back at my self ... I know I can be such a wimp in regard to my practice ... as soon as I have a little injury in my body ... right away in my mind it becomes a valid reason to not practice. And this women is missing a foot!?! And she was there doing her daily practice!! What an example. So when I reach out to her, on behalf of @liquidoactive ... she was sooo cool, friendly and very approachable ... and without hesitation she accepted to do this shoot with me ... her first yoga shoot ever!! We had soo many good laughs ... thank you Anna for trusting me ... and I am soo happy that we are now good friends! One of the particularity of Ashtanga yoga is the unique relationship that exists between a teacher and his student. No other type of yoga have something comparable to it. Part of it is due to the intensity of the practice. Another part is due to the daily surrender of the student to his teacher. Let me tel you this is not an easy thing to do. It start with a complete trust into the teacher ... it can happen during catching ... letting another person bending you back word until you grab your legs or knees is quite an experience. Or it can happen while trying a new pose for example ... the teacher is asking you to do something that doesn’t sound possible ... at times you just want to go “ok lessen this is my body, I have just tried this and I know my legs can’t go that way” ... well instead of saying that you have to respectfully lessen and try again the exercise at task with the same sincerity ... you trust that your teacher knows better. When you have a good teacher more often than not, it is going to work and you will feel like a million dollars; that feeling is absolutely amazing ... being able to go behind what ever you thought was possible, being able to surpass what ever you thought you physical limitations were ... only because of the faith we have in the practice and in our teacher ... well this is called Mysore Magic! This is where some one can feel a bit closer to God; a divine presence ... reaching a spiritual state of mind trough the physicality of the body. Today after practice Dena sang for us ... beautiful gift for her students ... morning light ... magical moments ... I was moved!! Her voice is so graceful.✨ . Last year she finally made a CD for us ... and she chose one of my pictures for the cover. What a huge honor for me!! 💗 100% of the benefits will be donated to Bupuji children’s home ... orphanages in Mysore, India. "In Gratitude" Dena Kingsberg new album release. 💋✨🎶 I cannot even start to tell you how proud I am that Dena used one of my pictures for the cover of her latest album. Her music is delightful ... what an honor to have my work associated to her beautiful voice 💗 - This week in Santa Barbara is reaching to an end. We have one more practice early tomorrow morning and then we will lose our teacher to the world ... until next time. Practice have been soo good for the mind and the body. Lessening to her teachings have been so enriching. I am truly grateful to be here with 💜Dena and 💙Jack thank you to you both!! - As I mentioned Dena as a new album that just came out.
