Ok so now I'm curious for your take on why Deng deserved to win b/c I don't see that opinion a lot. (to me comparing their routines has always looked like a case of the code not really distinguishing between good execution and great execution). Interested for your opinion on it!

it's funny you mention execution because DLL always looked better executed to me - she connected better out of her front aerial, had really no wobbles while SL had one out of her back pike (both had a step on the dismount), she had a bit nicer form on the side somi and the switch ring or so it looks to me, etc. small differences when they were so clearly #1 and #2 in that final, but i find it interesting that people are so adamant in saying SL was better when, while her composition is indeed more unique while DLL is more chinese beam 101, DLL was just ever so slightly better on the day and i don't really see an argument against that lol.
