Here's my self insert Denzel Harvey! Little lore, I created this race of humans called "Monster Tamers".

5,000 years ago in Egypt, MT (Monster Tamers) had the abilities to communicate with monsters and tame them back when monsters used to walk on the earth after summonings. Despite the monsters being trapped in slabs by the Pharaoh's magic, MT still were able to communicate. They were in high demand for theives who stole monsters and needed a way for the beasts to listen to them without the possibility of harm, and for Sorcerers and Pharaoh's who wanted to get stronger and have more obedient monsters that would listen. However, Monster Tamers had to be born with the ability, and it's not genetic.

Denzel 5,000 years ago was a Monster Tamer named Jabari, after being traded, he was soon Pharaoh Atem's MT. It wouldn't take long for the two to fall in love. Atem, feeling guilty, offered to give Jabari money so he could be free and leave to whenever he wanted to go. However, Jabari declined and said he wished to stay with the Pharaoh, and wished to stop the trading and abuse of his people. So, they became a strong pair and winning duels became much more easier. One day, during a duel, traitors and enemies of the Pharaoh ambushed them and were aiming to kill the Pharaoh Atem. Due to his loyalty and love for Atem, Jabari protected him and was pierced through with a sword that ended his life. Before he passed, he promised Atem that they'll meet again in another life, and in that life, he'll love him no matter what form they take.

Present time, Denzel is notorious for being a huge flirt with everyone and a sorta bully that loves causing fights. His flirtyness comes from the need to feel loved and gain attention since his parents neglected him, called him a mistake, and basically pretends he doesn't exist (even calling him Diesel or Daniel because they couldn't remember his name). One day, after an encounter that ended up with him being hurt, another kid stepped up and proteted and helped him. The kid introduced himself as Yugi Muto and it's here where Denzel fell in love with him, he stopped flirting with the other students due to the discomfort it soon brought him. Not long, he focused his attention to Yugi and would stop at nothing to protect him.

Denzel Harvey is also a Monster Tamer in his current life, however he has no idea what it is and think his dreams are him suffering from nightmares (when in reality he's actually sending his mind to the Shadow Realm due to his deep concentration and abilities. This causes him to see the monsters from ancient times, and he dreams of a man he cannot remember the face of). So he feels a familiar feeling around Yugi and Duel Monsters he can't place as to why.
