El GIF no sólo funciona para representar poesía –o para acompañarla–, también funciona en otras formas artísticas. Dennis Cooper construye su novela Zac’s Haunted House (2015) con archivos en este formato.
El autor desarrolla su narrativa a través de GIF variados. En los cinco capítulos que componen la obra (al igual que en su prefacio y epílogo), podemos encontrar extractos de películas, videojuegos, animaciones y, aprovechando la popularidad tan creciente que poseen, Cooper incluye memes en su propuesta. De igual forma, se incluyen composiciones tomadas de vídeos encontrados en la red.
