     meme: headcanons! || status: selectively accepting.

though stu is far more vocal about his interest in horror films, murdoc quite enjoys them himself! his all-time favourites are the classics ( i.e. the universal classic monsters era ), but he has a soft spot for a handful of films that came out after that time period, such as the exorcist, the texas chainsaw massacre, halloween, black christmas, suspiria, possession & the original dawn of the dead! though murdoc sneers and turns up his nose at stu’s passion for the zombie genre ( for no other reason than to look superior to him, because murdoc is… Like That ), even he has to admit that george a. romero was “really onto something” and will sometimes sit down with stu to watch some of his films, albeit with his own wry commentary.

murdoc both did and didn’t take good care of stu while he was comatose. he was decent in the sense he kept him clean, changed & made sure he received his nutrients. he didn’t want to hurt him worse, contrary to what murdoc insists in ROTO - more so to keep himself from getting into any extra trouble than out of actual moral decency ( or so he liked to tell himself ), but still. on the other hand, he canonically dragged poor stuart along during his many stupid, reckless escapades, and allowed his friends to play mean pranks on stu ( i.e. drawing on his face and body, putting him in humiliating positions, etc ) in the process. we all know how well that turned out in the end.

though he refuses to admit it out loud - at least in front of stu - murdoc really does feel terrible for ruining the former’s life. he knows he’s caused him a severe amount of physical, emotional & psychological trauma, and while he tries to play it off like a big ugly joke earlier on ( at least until he’s confronted about it ), murdoc will do little things to show he’s remorseful. this includes helping stu remember important information, tying his shoes for him without complaint, making sure stu takes his medication, protecting stu from creepy fans & getting stu whatever he wants to eat and drink. this doesn’t erase or downplay the years of abuse he’s inflicted upon him, but… murdoc’s not a complete monster, at the very least. especially after he actively begins trying to improve himself and acknowledges he was god-fucking-awful to his best friend.

ʜᴏᴛᴇʟ ʟᴀsᴛ ʀᴇsᴏʀᴛ || @dentheaded

     Today was the day.

     As much as Murdoc wanted to forget, it was the start of what Noodle and Russel hoped would be many therapy sessions for 2D and Murdoc. The pair had grown fed up with the problematic relationship between the two men who fought like children more often than not. Since the band had finished with their tour of The Now Now and their G-Shock watch campaign, they were currently taking a hiatus from music. A hiatus that Noodle and Russel suggested would be permanent if the two men didn’t get it together, what with Murdoc’s prison stunt and 2D’s shifts in mood that had drove Russel to tripping him in the “Humilty” music video.

     Honestly, Murdoc would have thrown a fit just a few years ago. He still bitched, but he hadn’t exploded in quite the same way. He was getting old and starting to grow tired. He didn’t want to lose HIS band, even when said band members strong armed him without any right. He never saw the three of them put their soul on the line for Gorillaz, but whatever.

     Currently, the duo resided near Venice Beach in sunny California while Noodle and Russel stayed in London. Murdoc advocated he and 2D do it right if they were going to do it all, like celebs going to the Betty Ford Clinic...except he’d no intention of going there to get clean. One mental psychiatrist was enough, thanks.

     They were living in Murdoc’s Winnebago, with Murdoc crashing in his room and 2D on the couch despite the man’s long legs. Murdoc hadn’t slept a wink. He’d spent the night and most of the morning downing a fifth of Captain Morgan’s finest spiced rum and several Heinekens that now littered the floor of his bedroom. Maybe he’d finally pass out during the bloody therapy session and the rest would be 2D’s quandary to sort out. It just turned eleven o’clock, with the appointment approaching in half an hour.

     All but legless, Murdoc somehow managed to get out of bed and stumble to the door with the room spinning. The heel of one of his Cubans crushed a beer bottles on the way. Fortunately, he’d never taken them off, so his foot was spared from a nasty injury. He wrenched the bedroom door open.

     “Heeeey, faceache!” Murdoc exclaimed, squinting as he surveyed the narrow living space for his singer. He groaned, throwing up a little in his mouth, bile and drool dripping from one corner. “S’almost time for you t’start rabbiting to the shrink! Oh, s’gonna be greaaat!” he screamed in a rather manic way, his concept of volume gone three drinks ago.

“I don’t know if I’ve ever even touched a keyboard before...hah.” He was picking at the sleeve of his jacket; already nervous. Not for himself, but for Stu. As if somehow the guy was going to mess up his demonstration. The fear of second-hand embarrassment was something that Mizi faced quite often, although he was trying pretty hard to mask that he was feeling some sorta way.

This was going to be a fun time, a chill time; he kept telling himself. He didn’t want to ruin it with his awkward behavior. And he really did want to see how Stu could play the keyboard so easily! “But uh, my parents had this big piano in our house once, and I don’t know why, but I’d um, ...I learned how to play ‘Mary had a little lamb’.”  That was the extent of Mizi’s ‘keyboard’ knowledge. “It...I don’t even know what happen to that piano...weird.”

✢ for a good memory that makes them smile

     “As ghoulish as it may make me seem, I cannot help but smile whenever I think of the second time 2D flew through the windscreen of my Vauxhall Astra.

     Yes, there may have been a good bit of blood, but you know what? That second accident was what finally brought him around. If it weren’t for me, the poor sod would’ve remained as useless as an unopened bag of fertilizer. You may argue if it weren’t for me, he would’ve never encountered any sort of accident at all. You couldn’t possibly know that, though. And let me tell you: what happened was no accident.

     I’ll never forget the image of when he stood up. Tall, pretty, spiky blue hair, no eyeballs… This new and improved Stu Pot––which I then dubbed 2D––gave me the green light to truly have a go at Gorillaz. God bless the two dents in his head. The band just wouldn’t be the same otherwise.”

  Amplify? Fix the pitch? Hit ‘C’? The former poet was no musical expert, so she   almost had zero idea what any of those terms meant, she understood she had   to be a bit louder when she sang, but... Being soft is what she’s used to. She   hasn’t sang in front of large majority of people before, just to herself, but Nazumi   knew that had to change if she wanted to stay in this band. It had been a while,   but she still couldn’t bring herself to look him in the eye yet, not because of his   own eyes, but she had trouble with eye contact. This may take a while to figure   out... She’s still a rookie, but she makes up for it with how fast she learns.

       ❝ I--I don’t.. Know... Maybe ?? I’m-- I’m sorry if I’m just           wasting your time with this, Stu. ❞

  Nazumi was very relieved with how patient he was with her, she knew how much   of a hassle she could be at times, so it put her a bit at ease knowing that it was   okay to mess up && try again, he said she was doing good... So she wanted to   believe his words.
