Well it looks like we've seen the last of summer in the UK and Autumn has lost control of its bladder. There are ups and downs to being a mobile pdr tech. In the summer months everyone wants to be a dent man and our technician applications go through the roof , as winter approaches folks become strangely less interested. Although working in the wind, rain, snow and freezing temperatures can create issues I still don't know a tech that would swap you for a cushy 9 to 5. There's something about duelling with the weather that makes you feel more alive. Appropriate clothing and a cast iron determination to succeed are minimum requirements for working in a winter wonderland. Mercedes E class estate D pillar repair. Cause of damage unknown. There are some occasions when the cost to repaint is higher because an exact colour match is difficult to achieve without blending the adjacent panels. In this instance the tailgate,roof rail and the little quarter glass trim would all need refinishing . Paint and materials aren't cheap neither is the labour. If there was ever a good time to deploy the services of a good pdr tech this would be it. It's been a crazy August for weather in the UK. It would be unrealistic to expect a month of glorious sunshine but I can't remember when we had so many days that it absolutely hammered it down . It comes to something when you can't risk going to work in the height of summer without a waterproof coat and a brolly. You've gotta love the UK. Top quality pdr technicians are a very rare species . Many people still believe that this is a creature only found in myth and legend but I can assure you that they are difficult to find but do exist. They come in many shapes and sizes but all are highly sought after by dealers and public alike. Habitat:- They can be found in the undergrowth next to car sales outlets, bodyshops and driveways. They're favourite hide out is crouched down between cars. Feeding:- They can survive on a diet of dents dings, creases and high spots but should NEVER be fed after dark. Behaviour :- Enthusiastic and willing, highly skilled and very approachable. Training :- Can perform awesome tricks but sometimes need a little encouragement. If you wave money ,coffee and cakes you'll soon have their attention . Warning:- Not to be confused with the similar looking but much less talented brown speckled pdr tech. These inferior creatures can be sold cheap but are much less talented , they invariably come with a bad attitude and a pooey bum. The ubiquitous door handle dent is in my opinion the most offensive of all minor damage as it never gives you a chance to forget it's there. Constantly poking you in the eye every time you approach your pride and joy. 😉👈 Usually caused by opening the door onto the door mirror of the car parked next to you. From a repair point of view they can be tricksy as the lock/handle mechanism is often obstructive, the return on the back of the door can make access tight and double skinned strengthening is often deployed from the body line up. Altogether a bit of a challenge but we repair dozens of them every day across the UK.
