I want to talk about something I’ve heard a lot about recently. This thought process of “there’s no room for hate” or “hate does nothing good”. I think we need to think a little more critically about what we mean by that. . Personally, I disagree. I don’t believe we need to be love and light all the time. There is a place for anger. There is a place for hate. No one wants to be on the receiving end of hate...obviously, it sucks. And should you do you best to be a good & kind person? Fuck yea. . But to demean hate entirely...idk it kind of feels like a privileged stance to take. There are instances where hate and anger are necessary to catalyze change. . Would you say women who have been assaulted shouldn’t hate their attacker? And shouldn’t be angry about a system that failed her? . Would you say slaves were wrong if they hated their oppressors? . Would you say that white people hating minorities and minorities hating racists are both equally wrong? Because I wouldn’t. . Yes we need more kindness and love and compassion but for some people that’s a privilege they don’t get to have. Some people are faced with bullshit day in and day out and that makes them hate or angry. And I don’t think it’s fair for some people to tell them their feelings aren’t valid because “we should all be more loving” because “it’s the right thing to do”. Because maybe it’s not. Maybe we should get angry, maybe we should rise up and fight for what IS RIGHT. . Sometimes yoga gets confused for everyone having to be loving and happy and zen all the time but in the Bhagavad-Gita we learn that fighting for what is right...is right. . Ok rant done!
