My Champions League Thoughts: 9/14/21
1) I’ve really missed doing these. 😁
2) Dinamo Kiev were flat out robbed on that late winner, are the VAR people blind?? Garmash was being kept on by the two center backs, how is that offside??
3) Francis Coquelin reminded everyone of why Arsenal didn’t miss him: came on as a sub in 60th minute, got two yellows and was sent off less than 25 minutes later; un-freaking-believable. 🙄
4) I’m done listening to USMNT fans who try to tell me Brooks is a top class center back, because he’s not. I’ve been watching him for years, hoped he’d improve, hasn’t even come close. I don’t care that Wolfsburg are in 1st and only conceded a goal so far, he can’t even defend a throw-in without getting sent off. I’m sorry, take that somewhere else.
5) Lille couldn’t buy a goal today, even against 10 men. 🤦🏾♂️
6) Paulo Dybala as Juventus captain, not sure how I feel about this honestly. 🤷🏾♂️
7) Saw shades of the old United defense at times today. Everyone getting sucked to one side and leaving the opposite wing completely unmarked. Switching off right when they know the ball’s about to come into the box. And my personal favorite, terrible back passes that lead to goals. 😑😑
8) Sevilla gifted penalties like FC Santa today. 😂 Salzburg were woefully wasteful, they should’ve been up 3-0 before they conceded a penalty of their own.
9) I like En-Nesyri, I do, but I was more than happy to see him get sent off with a second yellow for diving in the box today. Well done ref. 👍🏾👍🏾
10) Bayern could’ve had another 8-goal outing today, Barca did not look good at all. 😬
Special mention: Someone on YouTube the other day described the way United often play under Ole as “relegation football.” Get a goal and sit back hoping to eek out a win, no offensive answer one you concede an equalizer, no belief in your ability to overcome adversity...yup, sounds about right. 😔
