Obi-Wan is a noble of a high born family, shrewd, smart, and enjoys good fashion. When the time comes to overthrow the Targaryen rule and kill off anyone who had the Valyrian blood-- he doesn't feel like it fit with his aesthetic. Instead of killing Anakin, he ships him off, and he himself is shipped off to the wall. That is until Anakin is back.
