Most difficult hike of my life! To get to that small village down there at the bottom we had to get a 7 hour hired car from Shangri-la to Deqin, stay overnight in a 10 Yuan (£1) hotel with no running water, take a 2 hour taxi in the morning to Xideng (the end of the road) and then do an 8 hour hike, which consisted of hiking up a mountain, (this picture was taken at the top) and then hike back down the other side to get to the village. Completely worth it to stay in what I consider one of the most beautiful villages in the world, in an area with some of the only wild snow leopards left in the world. Incredible!
