Hey, great blog! Do you prefer simple design or more intricate ornate design?
Oh man, this is a super tough question! As lame as this answer is going to seem, it’s the total truth: It honestly depends. A great example of how wide my range of interests are: William Morris and Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe are two of my favorite designers. Morris easily has some of the most ornate patterns I have ever come across, while Van Der Rohe is probably most well-known for his “form follows function” aesthetic. In a nutshell, total opposite ends of the spectrum.
If I absolutely had to pick one or the other though, I would probably lean more towards “less is more”. As much as I am drawn to intricate patterns, designs, and aesthetics, there is just something so refreshing about taking out all the nonsense and leaving only the beautiful essentials.
Thanks for the awesome question! I had a blast thinking about it!
