The arm along the rim of the bath bent at the elbow. Without sight, one could sometimes feel the presence of a passing shadow. His hand moving above until it came to rest against her forehead. His own tilting as if he looked down towards her, letting the edge of a horn rest against the back of his palm to protect her from its rough texture.

"My life has not been amazing. It's broken me into a thousand shards of jagged glass. I want to push you away from it and at the same time, impale you on it. I do not believe that you can survive me and at the same time, I do not believe that I can survive without you."

Her mouth strained into a stretched line as an emotional puff of breath fled her nose. It was just as well Kurel had wrapped a blindfold around her eyes. They grew just a little wet. The sweet reality sank in: he never threw Colpeia away. He was protecting her from her own guilt. No matter how well he may have known her in their youth, decades later there was no way he could have known the depth of truth he acted upon. The ugliness in Colpeia that he shielded.

“You do not have to stay a thousand shards of jagged pieces if you don't want to. Glass can be reheated. It can be melted into something new, with purposeful art. But it has to be something you want.”

She reached again for his hand and clutched it. "I have since been called the Gazelle of the Desert. The prey that wins. I know how to survive. But should I ever be taken in the hyena's maw, succumbed to the scorpion's poison, I would rather feed the fire rocs holding your hand than live a quiet life with my back to you." Her tone was devastatingly sincere. "Kur'elnth. You are my friend. Let me be impaled."

So if you put the AU Keith’s in an order of how Galra they look. What would they look? Who is the most and least Galra

Good question!

I think we all know that who you are in the dark Keith would be the front runner for looking most Galra. He's followed shortly after by abyss of memory Keith, galra prince Keith, burgundy Keith, and runaway paladin Keith. Then you've got desert born and MFE paladin AU Keith, and they're followed all of the 'mostly human but still visibly a little more Galra Keiths like anomalous point and flicker. Then lastly you've got your canon appearance Keiths, like the supernatural AU and the amnesiac blade AU.

(space human Keith, parallel reverse Keith and reality scramble Keith are outliers that will not be counted.)

(quintessence poisoning and ignis Keith have their own brand of fucked up going on as well.)

Top 5/10 fav scenes that you’ve written ?

Basically just the entire castle invasion arc in cosmic dust. Just all of it.

The bit in kintsugi where Zuko's birthday present for Toph is the fact that he's gotten his firebending back. It's just such a nice character moment for the both of them that builds up on everything in the series thus far.

also on that same note, Xia-Su and Zuko's conversation in kintsugi about her father, and how she got her limp.

the fight scene between Sendak and Keith in chatper six of under the pale moonlight.

the entire beginning of heart of a dragon. I really popped off with that introduction.

Keith and Macidus' second confrontation in flicker, culminating in that group hug.

the end of the naxzela chapter of abyss of memory, also culminating in that group hug.

speaking of abyss of memory. the build up to the twist at the end of roar of rebellion, like. in general. :)

Heath's death at the end of desert blessing.

still, somehow, both parts of this silly precure fic that revolves around magical offworlders vs cellphones.

my vld fic is still on hiatus, but may I offer you a desert born sketchdump in these trying times?

okay so I might not have gotten much writing done lately but I did finish this (mostly) old sketchump which was the first one I ever drew when I was still conceptualizing cosmic dust... as you can tell there were definite changes between the original and the final version of the story!

at first it was going to revolve around keith and allura which is still rad but somewhere along the line it shifted to revolving around keith and pidge and space pirates. sometimes that’s just what happens. still wanted to finish coloring the sketchdump tho so y’all could see it!

also a desert born and who you are in the dark busts that I added later when I realized there was too much blank space
